Hi! new member/author just looking for some feedback/suggestions on this piece, this being my first. I’ve spent a few days on this and I’m pretty happy with it right now, but there’s some things I’ll go back and add and reduce if theres some suggestions. Some things that stuck out while I was charting this was 1.) the drummer uses alot of accents on his snare which doesn’t really translate to the RB chart and 2.) around 3:05 how he plays it live is by stepping 8th notes on his hi hat pedal which has a tambourine attached to it. you can see how I charted it and if you have any suggestions it’d be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
June 19, 2017 at 6:32 pm #486579Looks great for your first chart. This measure will be really difficult so I suggest losing the yellow hi hat note beside the blue tom so your left hand doesn’t snap off trying to hit that next note on the snare. It’s not wrong as it is, just my opinion. The rest of it looks & sounds pretty good to me.
Keeping the content Canadian since 2017!

thanks I appreciate the words, ill definitely remove that hi hat. couple questions, would it make sense to chart the acccented snare hits as snare yellow tom in the intro when nothing else but the snare is being played? and i had a discussion with some people on discord about whether the tambourine/hat pedal should be charted or if it should be left out/left to vox in favor of playing 8th notes on the green tom. https://youtu.be/9XyR0o0jaqU?t=27m23s this is how he plays it live. thanks for the feedback again
June 19, 2017 at 8:14 pm #486584Usually, what’s played the left foot, often hi-hat pedal, is not charted, unless little else is going on. In this case, it makes for a few awkward parts. It might be better to take out the hi-hat notes on those parts and keep it all closer to what the hands would do on an actual kit.
Harmonix and most authors chart flams on snare and toms as simultaneous notes where you’ve charted a few just a bit apart. I’ll let you decide what you want to do with that.
In the first third of the song, you’re missing a few kicks and perhaps more, from what I can hear.
But for the most part, you’ve got a solid first drum chart for a song that’s not very easy to decipher.

June 20, 2017 at 2:59 pm #486637okay so any feedback on this would be appreciated, I changed the hat to floor tom as he plays it live, added some kicks i missed and removed some kicks/toms i thought i heard but didnt. i’m pretty happy with the chart as is right now, unless you guys point out something this is probably the final version.
June 20, 2017 at 7:52 pm #486647Looks much better already!
However, I think you’re missing a kick at 0:50 (17.1.50), a ride at 4:30 (87.2.75), and the tom flams are still not simultaneous. Your call of course, but it’s not according to the standards most of us here stick to.
June 21, 2017 at 3:49 pm #486687You can always make a 2x version of the chart where the highhats/tambourine are just charted to kicks. It’s not the greatest way, but it’s an alright method of simulating high-hat pedal.
I’d also suggest double checking some parts, idk the song but there just sounded like some extra toms/kick in the intro.
