Bringing out two customs this time, two songs from Final Fantasy IX, “The Final Battle” and “The Darkness of Eternity”.

I just beat the game for the first time a couple weeks ago and I was really in love with the soundtrack, so I thought I’d chart the final two boss themes from the game.

I used a midi extracted from the game files so I hope it’s as accurate as it can be. Both songs feature intense Keyboard sections and I’m really happy about the venue work I’ve done, especially for The Final Battle.

    Two incredible songs!

I really feel like they should loop a second time though. That’s a weird, videogamey thing that doesn’t necessarily translate directly to Rock Band, of course, but the end feels so abrupt. Is it just me?

Sure, what do you have in mind?

I was considering having it loop a second time but felt it would’ve dragged on too long. I’m open to changing that if people want me to.

And sorry about the abrupt endings, like you said, these songs are meant to loop seamlessly so it’s hard to find a hard stopping point. The other option is to do a fade out but that’s not as good either for RB.

I agree, there’s no great answer here! Fade-outs suck and aren’t fun to play. You hit a great song length for RB in that it’s identical to lots of pop music, but I wonder if the audience for these tracks cares much about that?

The Black Mages do their own noodling on top of the song, but they do come back to it before the end:

Like I said, there’s no great answer and I’m not going to pretend like I have The Answer, but all the VGM I’ve listened to over the years loops once then fades out. It’s still very much an open question if that’s how the music should be handled in RB.

New track from the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion, “Fly Octo Fly and Ebb & Flow (Octo)”. The songs are featured in the final boss of the expansion.

The duet of Pearl and Marina in the song makes it fun to sing in Harmonies.

2 (2.5?) new releases here, from The World Ends With You soundtrack, “Give Me All Your Love” and “Someday”.

Someday was done in both the English and Japanese versions along with Pro Guitar charted.

Give Me All Your Love also has the 2-handed Real Keys part charted in the Phase Shift version, so please download that one instead of converting the RB3 file.

A game called Deltarune just came out a few days ago, a sequel/successor of sorts to Undertale. I instantly fell in love with the soundtrack and I knew I had to chart something from it, so I did three!

Did another Deltarune song, I couldn’t resist. Keys is definitely the highlight of this one with some difficult parts and a nice sax solo to go with it. This custom is also a good example of how important animating the left hand is so see how that looks in the video.

Hell yeah! I swear, this song has been stuck in my head ever since the release of Deltarune.

Been addicted to the FFXIV mmo lately, so I decided to chart one of the songs from the new raid tier.

Used gameplay footage for the preview video instead of the venue due to the rule of needing to show video of where the song plays to prevent copyright problems.

New chart for today is “Miserabile Visu (Ex Malo Bonum)” by Anberlin. Pretty easy song overall except for the guitar solo.

New chart called Silhouette by 4EverfreeBrony, who I’m grateful for continuing to provide me stems to his songs.

Short and simple song with Keys that’s only somewhat challenging,
