Fat HalpertParticipantI wanted to know which legacy DLC/RBN songs in my library were missing keys, so I went ahead and listened to all of the stems to see. With the help of Linos Melendi, we were able to create this spreadsheet that outlines about 250 songs and specifies whether they do or do not have keys in the actual song. Initially I just made this for my personal use, but I wanted to share it here because it may be helpful to some.

As I said before, this is only a list of the songs in my own library, but it puts a pretty significant dent in the legacy DLC list. I tried to be as thorough as I could, but it may be possible that a couple of them are incorrect. If anyone spots a mistake, feel free to let me know so I can correct it. There are also a handful of songs that are blank or have “?” marks. These are songs that I could not figure out for sure, so if anyone wants to lend a hand with those I would be truly grateful. I tried to lean on the side of caution, so if I was unsure, I went ahead and marked it as “yes” (needs keys). I also included a notes section in order to make comments about specific songs.
I know that many songs only have keys/strings/brass/synth for a very short amount of time (Roxanne for example), so I had to establish a bare minimum cut-off point. Basically, if a song only features keys/brass/strings/synth for less than 20 seconds total, I did not count it as needing keys. I know this may be up for debate, but I personally don’t think it makes any sense for a player to only have 20 seconds of notes for a 4 minute song. However, any song that is marked as “no” that features any chartable keys has a note that outlines exactly how long it is played for. So for example, “Beck” by E-Pro has about 10 seconds of synth towards the end of the song, so I marked it as “no” with an asterisk and wrote down how long the keys are playing for in the notes section. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks.

MemberPretty comprehensive! Also makes me wonder for some of these song what could’ve been if RB3 versions were more widespread.
Especially with other RBN1.0 stuff, this could benefit from some collaboration from those that have more of that stuff in their library.

FujiSkunkKeymasterIf you want, you can add a “No” for Rush’s “Limelight”. I discovered this evening the Rock Band mix removed the keys completely. They aren’t even in the background. I’m bummed.

Yeah I’d totally be down to collab with people who have more diverse libraries. It’d be great to try and make a big list.

I added it. Thanks!

StackOverflow0xParticipantThis would have helped about 6 years ago. At this point, I wouldn’t mind quantity over quality in that if Pro has to be skipped, then so be it.
Also, where are the No Doubt songs? I had started on those years ago, but didn’t get far because I couldn’t get an accuracy check on the Pro Keys.

Yeah that bugged me as well. I can understand them being quiet since obviously they weren’t playable but I can’t see why they removed keys entirely. They do add to the song and it still feels off every time I play it and don’t hear them.

If you still have those files, I’d be happy to check them and then maybe add them to my current fork of the Project.

Yeah, I guess I could give you everything I abandoned. It would still be nice to see it completed. Though they are a bit rough since my skills weren’t that great back in 2014.

Thanks for this! I can chart Green Day Jesus of Suburbia keys. Know Your Enemy and Homecoming do not have keys.

The Other SideParticipantDuran Duran’s “Rio” has background synths, as well as two sax solos.

OddbrotherParticipantAlias Unknown’s “Top Back” could work. It’s about the same situation as INXS’ “Need You Tonight”.

I’m not familiar with those, do you mean both of them need keys?

INXS’ “Need You Tonight”, an on-disc RB3 song, has keys, but they are of a less-than-attentive pattern and have several breaks throughout the song.
“Top Back”, an RBN song, doesn’t have keys. But if it did, it would go under the same results as “Need You Tonight”, which stands kinda close to your minimum cut-off point.
