you are free to champion this of course, and do it! we would be very thankful.
Yeah, we had approached a couple of people, but neither could commit. Wii, PhaseShift… we would love to make these songs available to other consoles/platforms but we nee someone who can take care of that, we don’t have the resources frankly to do it ourselves.
June 8, 2013 at 2:54 am #400855Pass again. The streak continues…Ugh. I know the whole point of forums is for every to contribute their feedback and what not, but this was annoying when it was legit dlc that was purchased as a customer. I know you’re entitled to your opinion, but these posts come off so much worse now that EVERYTHING IS FREE and LITERALLY ANY SONG can be created by ANYONE.
At this point, any version of “Nothing again. X weeks in a row now.” is just less than useless.
Every time I read a post like that, I picture the person sadly kicking rock as they shuffle away with The Incredible Hulk’s “sad, walking away” music playing all around them.
Apologies if I’m coming off like a dick, but I seriously can’t see how people can still have complaints like this with the situation being the way it is. Seriously. I am being for serious.
For my part, I’ll just ignore these types of posts from now on, but I figured I’d allow myself this one time to call it out. Thanks, yo!
Well said!
I can’t describe how annoying those posts were over at the official forums and now that everything done is FREE and done in people’s spare time for fun, it just seems incredibly disrespectful to come back to the whole….”nothing for me…..again” thing.
Don’t like the songs…that’s fine. Please don’t be a dick about it though. Say….”not my thing this week…but looking forward to what’s next!” or something like that.
Now I know what to say next week whether I download something or not. Pass AGAIN. The streak continues…
June 8, 2013 at 3:42 pm #400882So how about starting to release Wii-tailored versions of the songs? Only way to get people in is to make them appear included. Everything is already set.we have not expressed any interest in including Wii people. it is not to say we don’t want them (you?) included, but we simply can’t provide the songs since we do not have Wii or anyone who wants to go through the extra work to do it. not to mention, it is very limited and not every song can be made to work.
you are free to champion this of course, and do it! we would be very thankful.
Well as it stands right now, anyone who wants to can convert it themselves. The issues would be random freezes on some songs. A Wii version would basically be the song, compiled with 2 drum tracks instead of 5 or 6. Album art is already taken care of because I already have a tool to batch convert automatically.
I think it should at least be done for one week to gauge interest. There are already a few who have done the conversions themselves.

Right, so submit it to us next week!

Well, since I import these songs for my use in Phase Shift, maybe I could handle those ports?

That would be nice. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> If you really think you can work on a weekly basis on all the songs we release, drop me a PM with some info on what you do and I’ll take it to discuss with the guys, this is something we wanted done from day 1 but didn’t have the resources. I’m stressing “weekly basis” and “all the songs” because we found other people who converted for Phase Shift or Wii, but only selected songs they wanted and not always, while unfortunately (well, fortunately for Wii and Phase Shift users ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> ) we need to have a consistent cross-platform release schedule. If you’re up for it, do PM!

Eh, but still. Wii looks like a much easier effort on your guys’ end. Just re-compile the song with less tracks and that way I won’t have to hand-edit all the DTAs as well as edit audio myself since it’s not my strength. But then there’s the milo file which basically doesn’t do anything. I don’t suppose a Wii version can be compiled as well.
But regardless, I’ll do next week’s release, just for show.

With all due respect, I think the only part of the process we can /potentially/ do faster is pumping out tuned .dtas and different .moggs, and only in cases where we’re doing a multitrack (non-mp3) release. We’d need to build, rename, change the instrument layout (probably the data in the PART_DRUMS track too, actually, to get Magma to take it), and build again. Then we’d need to rip the songs.dta and audio out of this second CON so that we could provide it to someone (ostensibly you) to build Wii packages — at first glance, I don’t see how this is innately faster than your process.
It doesn’t exactly make it an ‘easier’ effort on our end to put together another batch and ensure it works, especially since (unlike for the 360) we have no real way to make sure the are prepared properly and would work in a Wii environment. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_emot-3.gif”>
It would likely be safer to leave the port-to-Wii process safely in someone’s hands since we’re using 360-centric tools and don’t have the full details of what needs to be done to ensure things don’t asplode on the Wii side; perhaps if we knew there was a considerable Wii demographic we could justify trying to squeeze in the additional workload on a weekly basis with our existing pool of people, but given the situation I’d rather bring on additional help from someone capable in that area — and as of right now, you seem to be the only active member on our forums with that proficiency. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

i think this is going to become my signature from now on. that is just priceless.
coincidentally, it also applies if I say it. it’s a lot easier effort for me if you do it.

Okay, okay. I understand. That makes much more sense.
June 11, 2013 at 12:26 am #401096By all means, if we run some sample releases and get a lot of traffic/interest (sustained for a couple of weeks, of course — can’t take the week one traffic before people try to get them working as gospel), I would definitely see if there was some way for us to put together something to kind of speed up the process on the Wii conversion end (though, again, we can’t test them so I’d want someone Wii-based to be building, testing, and preparing for release).
June 11, 2013 at 2:32 am #401104People bitching about free custom songs, that other spend countless hours producing is idiotic. Thanks for all the songs c3 has come out with, they have gotten me back into the game. Nothing like a few beers and blowing off some steam playing new songs in rockband after a long day at work dealing with asshole customers.
fyi… for some reason hey ho and night swimming didn’t show up for me.
