Is skin knowledge really important for regular players?

Some people say skin knowledge is only useful for traders, not normal players. But I keep seeing players regret trades or purchases. Is learning about skins actually worth the time?
I used to think skin knowledge was overkill too, until I made a few bad decisions myself. After that, I decided to learn the basics properly. While doing so, cs2 wiki turned out to be one of the most helpful resources because it explains skins in a clear, structured way. Once I understood the fundamentals, I stopped making rushed decisions and started enjoying skins more, knowing exactly what I was getting and why it mattered.
