April 16, 2013 at 11:28 am #398454I’m gonna try and see if I can chart the drums and vocals myself
That’s great. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> Since I’m thinking about putting together a pack, I may ask you if you want to provide source for a few songs that would be in the pack, to which I would add vocals/drums/keys, of course if you’re not planning on adding those to all of them.
April 16, 2013 at 12:22 pm #398459I’m gonna try and see if I can chart the drums and vocals myselfLet us know if you hit any hurdles or have any questions. The RB:HP packages have the vocals .mids in a raw format if you want existing stuff to look at for reference, and the contribution guide touches on the basic elements of vocal charting (and also mentions adding pro drums, but drums are relatively easy to chart if you can pick out the drums in the mix — I almost always start a song with drums nowadays).
April 16, 2013 at 3:14 pm #398463Okay, I’m trying to do the Vox atm, but I’m not sure I’m doing it right. The RB authoring docs site seems to be down so I’m not able to read up on stuff there. Can someone quickly have a look at the vox chart and see if I’m doing right, so I can continue charting? Also on that last word I charted; “space” there seems to be a bend there, how do I chart that?

April 16, 2013 at 3:19 pm #398464I don’t have Reaper here, so I can’t look at the chart proper, but this might work as a temp filler until the Creators docs are online:
http://keepitfishy.com/d.php?5167e85a17ed5
It’s geared towards harmony upgrade authoring but has a crash course in general vocal authoring since that’s necessary.
Bends are charted with the lyric/syllable on the first note of the sequence, and then a new note on each pitch with a + as the lyric. Leave some space between each note as that is where the slide itself occurs (look at that doc for a screenshot visual).

Thanks for the link, that had some good info indeed. It seems I was placing the +’s the wrong way ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Still not sure about that “space” I mentioned though, I can’t clearly tell which notes are being sung in that one word (not in any midi files either). Not sure what to call it, I think the right word is Vibrato, it just goes up-down-up briefly.

I vibrato is generally a semitone down (alternated with the main note), but, and I can’t listen to the song right, vibrato is not always authored, it really depends on how much it stands out. What about finishing the songs and then us having a look at it, fixing but at the same time making comments, so you see what need improvement but you would still have a fixed song along with comments? Espher, what do you say?
April 16, 2013 at 3:43 pm #398468Yeah, I’ll just finish the chart and then you guys can comment on what I did wrong ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

I generally don’t author vibrato unless it’s on a long note and not extremely fast.
April 20, 2013 at 12:46 pm #398614Whenever we get around to finishing up Iron Man, I’d like to add pro guitar/bass to it. I’ve started my own custom of it but never finished tempo mapping half of the song.

May 17, 2013 at 8:39 pm #399753Could I snag the REAPER files for Tenacious D – Beelzeboss and Tenacious D – Kickapoo whenever you get a chance? I’d be willing to take what you’ve got all the way to completion, especially for Kickapoo.
June 4, 2013 at 11:47 pm #400541did you ever finish heaven by Warrant?

I couldn’t find accurate drum sheets/midi files for a lot of songs and it’s just hard to hear what’s going on and chart it based on what I’m hearing.
I’ve tried doing the drums for Wig Wam – In My Dreams for instance, that song has a lot of different hi-hats/crashes (closed/open etc.) and I’m unable to figure out which color notes I should use. Another example for the same song; I also wasn’t sure whether or not it’s sustained crashes being used or multiple open hi-hats.
For several other songs it’s just unclear when the kickdrum is used and whether or not it’s paired with a tom, etc. I hate guessing and I want stuff to be as precise as possible, so I kinda gave up on it. I would hate spending a lot of time on this only to find out it’s not accurate/good enough. I’d rather chart new songs for instruments I actually play instead of wasting a lot of time ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
June 5, 2013 at 2:52 pm #400579Well, I would suggest you fish around to maybe see if anyone here would be interested in a collab for the charts that are missing. I know there was a lot of interest in the material you had wanted to do so you might get some bites. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
