I’ve dealt with it before, I’ve mentioned it in the past. Now it’s just pissing me off.

I must have installed CAT wrong because I can’t use it when I have multiple BPM markers in REAPER. This puts most songs out of the question for me. It’s really useful when it works but it almost never works.

Can someone help me possibly fully uninstall CAT and Python and re-install it correctly? (I tried installing it on reaper 32x and it started throwing up errors)

Do you have reaper and python in 32bit version ? Ive had similar problem when installed 64bit reaper.

I have both 32-bit versions and python starts throwing up errors whenever I go to use CAT

I share your suffering, but I can’t help… I gave up on CAT a long time ago, it was less stressful to do manual reductions for me.

I use CAT as a template. Never as the end all be all.

It helps me with stuff like creating a BEAT track, drum animations and general clean up of things I always miss. Sometimes it’s essential. Especially in a really long song where it would be too much effort to go back and manually do each individual reduction for every instrument when I don’t have the time.

In Reaper click Options menu, then preferences.

                Scroll down and select ReaScript.

On my setup the Enable checkbox is checked.

                Python says: python27.dll is installed.

If I click the .dll path button it enters C:WINDOWSsystem32 in the Custom path to .dll directory box.

Is your setup different in any way from this?

                I am using Reaper 4.22 32 bit and Python 2.7 32 bit

Python has an uninstaller so you should be able to uninstall it and start over.

CAT just sits in a folder so it is not installed so you might just want to delete that association in Reaper if you’re starting over. Click Actions and then click Show action list. Look for Custom: CAT.py and then delete it.

After that you should have a clean slate to start over.

Other things to bear in mind that can have an impact on CAT working or not (from the CAT user manual):

                – Did you install Python correctly? If not, CAT will not load at all
                – Are you using Reaper 3.x and Python 2.x? If not, CAT may fail (ask in this thread about options for Reaper 4)
                – Does your project have tracks with special characters in their name? If so, CAT will fail
                – Did you use the C3 template to create your project? If not, CAT may fail
                – Does your project have a tempo map? If not, CAT may fail
                – Can you run CARV? If not, you have an issue with Reaper and/or Python, not CAT
                – Did the command window close after you launch the command? If so, the command has operated correctly, make sure you understand the advertised effect before submitting a ticket
                – Have you downloaded the latest version of CAT?
                – Does your Reaper project have a BPM marker at M1.1.00? If not, add one and try again
                – Do you have an [end] marker in the EVENTS track and is it in the correct place? If not, commands may fail or work poorly
                – Do your project folder or any of your audio tracks have special characters in it? If so, Reaper throws a tantrum, just rename those items

Let us know how you get on! Hopefully this helps.

Setup is the same as that. CAT ran fine on Reaper x64 with 64-bit Python

On Reaper 4.22 (32bit) with Python 2.7.0 (32bit) I get this error when loading CAT:

                  Script execution error

                  Traceback (most recent call last):
                  File "CAT.py", line 3, in

                  import _tkinter
ImportError: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application

This is exact from the message box.

I’m noticing that the file path to CAT looks weird. The slash is the wrong way round in “F:/CATcreate_beattrack.py”

                  #510982

Maybe try putting your CAT folder on a different drive? That F:/ looks weird.

I put it on a different drive but the slash in the file name is still the wrong way round.

                    Now it’s “D:/CATcreate_beattrack.py”

Did you delete C:Python27 after uninstalling Python? Is it looking at 64 bit python instead of 32 bit?

No. I’ll re-install it and try that

Awesome! Glad that it is working now … I wouldn’t be able to manage without CAT either <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
