Alright, we seem to have gotten this figured out. The issue was that CIOSes were not up to date, so reinstall and get the newest ones to make sure SDHC, instruments, and real/custom DLC all works.
April 24, 2014 at 4:58 pm #418749Hi,
Edit: After a bit of fiddling, the error now says “Add-on Content Cannot Be Restored to the Wii System Memory.” Not sure if that’s a step backwards or a step in the right direction.
Did this problem ever get solved as its my problem now ???
Could it be something to do with “FREE” dlc wad ??
cheers for any replys
April 25, 2014 at 3:58 am #418787Make sure you can access the store. Update your installed IOSes and make sure SDHC and DLC works. Follow the preparation guide at the top of the first post.

April 28, 2014 at 2:56 pm #419029How are you loading the game? In my video, I run the game under IOS 249 with the USB loader.
If that still doesn’t work, have you installed the sZFE wad properly?
May 16, 2014 at 4:20 pm #420437Would it be possible for someone from the site to Skype me, or somehow talk me through the process described in your tutorial for adding to the Wii? I have some idea of what I am doing, but cannot seem to get this working. I have used the tools linked in your tut, along with others I found on the web that I think were created using your original method. I did have all the songs in RB2 & 3 unlocked in the store, but as of last week, I cannot get into the store any longer. I re-soft modded my wii after re-formatting it (several times), and I just cannot get this to work. I don’t think it will take too long, and I would truly appreciate your help. I have read over the forum, and followed some of the fixes that worked for others, like adding the common key and ensuring my ng_id was correct, but the bins still don’t work. I get a message that the data on sd card is corrupted, although I am able to load the songs I had previously downloaded from the store. I just would really like to understand what I am doing, so that in the future I can add customs. For now I would just be content with being able to put all the DLC on a USB or SD. If someone wants to PM me, I can give you my cell number or Skype id and we could hopefully setup a time to chat? Thanks in advance! Oh and by the way, I am so glad I found your site. I am also happy to see that other people continue to enjoy playing this game as much as I do, as I am somewhat new to the music games. I have a 24 year old son and have watched him play these games for years, and one day decided to try it out. I have since become addicted lol, and am thinking of buying a pro drum set.
May 16, 2014 at 6:53 pm #420447I don’t know why you can’t get into the store. Helping you further could help improve the guide. It is due for a rewrite in a few when the store really goes away. PM me your info and we can go from there.
May 17, 2014 at 7:21 pm #420503Hello, I’ve been trying to play custom songs for a long time now, but because of college and such, I haven’t really been around my Wii enough to perfectly figure it out. However, I saw some Blink-182 songs were just uploaded so I really wanted to play them and get this working. When I try to play Rock Band 3 on the Wii, I only get the error: “Add on content cannot be restored to the system memory”. Here is what my file set up looks like, I’m not sure if this will help, I can upload other file picture setups if necessary.

May 18, 2014 at 5:50 pm #420552Okay, from the pictures, I can see two potential problems. The ng_id file seems to have not been edited, so make sure that has your console I’d in it. Then, your are not packing the second song folder. Make sure to update the packdlc file to include it. Finally, make sire you’ve installed the sZFE WAD to your console so the game van start reading the new content.
May 18, 2014 at 11:03 pm #420565Okay, I fixed the ng_id file, but I’m still not sure about packing the song folder, I posted a picture of what happens when I use my wadpacker, I’m not sure if this is normal. When I load rock band it tells me some nonsense about song-licensing issues of some kind so I’m still doing something wrong. I’m not sure if I put the sZFE WAD onto the wii, I did most of this months ago ha. Thanks for your help, I truly appreciate it.
May 19, 2014 at 4:07 pm #420611You’re not packing correctly. Songs you add can’t have 000 in their name. You have to add 1 to each number and after the sample song. Also make sure to update the DTA inside to match the new number.
Also, how are you loading the game? That can also make a difference.
May 19, 2014 at 9:54 pm #420633Right, I think I fixed the packing but something is still off. I uploaded some of my settings so you can review and perhaps find the problem, when you have time. I still only have 83 songs so I am still doing something wrong. I just play the game like normal when I want to test to see if the songs aren’t showing up, should I be doing something through homebrew to play?

May 20, 2014 at 4:57 am #420666The common key. Does that have the correct key? Certainly make sure that one is correct.
May 21, 2014 at 7:12 pm #420773Anyone else have trouble syncing their keyboard to their Wii when playing from WiiFlow or another USB loader? I’ve tried every IOS combination I could find online, but the only way my keyboard works is if I run the game from the disc. Of course, that means customs won’t work, and I need my keyboard specifically to test the custom I’m making. What could be the solution?
May 22, 2014 at 1:52 am #420794Make sure you’re on the latest IOS249 and run the game with it.
