Given that Halloween last year was a big hit with our userbase, I figure it can’t hurt to plan out the next one. Yes, it is in fact May as of the time of posting this thread. I just felt like making the thread now.
I think Halloween last year succeeded last year due to the variety of songs available, ranging from novelty piano tunes to smooth jazz to extreme metal, just to name a few styles listed that week. So I’d like to do something similar this year, too. I will include a list of songs that authors are planning on working on for this release, and a list of songs I think would be great for the pack, mostly well known ones.

Songs I Think Should Be Considered:
– Any horror movie themes would also be a fine inclusion, as long as we can make it work in-game.
– Songs from the Castlevania video game series would also be pretty cool. Keep in mind that if you do a song from either the Gameboy Advance or Nintendo DS StackOverflow, our Wii converter, has come up with a method to get multitracks.
My Dying Bridge – Catherine Blake might be cool for some Gothic Doom Metal flavor, got a old FoFiX chart of it that might be possible to update. Also doing a FtV of This Night of Ours by Pinkie Guy and Rainbow Factory by Wooden Toaster if we are gonna have some pony Halloween tracks this year again

I have some ideas for metal songs I may author for this pack. Here they are, in order of likelihood:
– Classic 80’s doom metal song with driving riffs, overpowering vocals, and fitting lyrics, as well as a cool guitar solo. This would actually really fit for a Halloween pack for sure.
– While this could only be seen as “fitting” in the sense that most extreme metal could be fitting for a Halloween theme, it does seem it could fit in as a sort of mix of extreme death metal and symphonic orchestra, sort of similar to the Cradle of Filth tracks from last year.
– This mathcore song is probably the creepiest thing I’ve ever heard. It switches between creepy poems using samples from conversations (sort of in a YouTube Poop style, only less cheesy), and chaotic screaming and instrumentation. If I were to author this, it’d take me a real long time, especially drums.
Again, these are all considerations, I may do one, all, or none. We’ll see once it gets closer to release time.
I might do the themes for “Halloween” and “Silent Hill 4: The Room” if nobody else plan to do any of those. Also I once heard a extended version of the Halloween theme that went into different themes from the movie later on in the song, sort of a medley of the main themes of the entire soundtrack, if someone finds that or something similar please let me know as I would prefer to chart that if possible
I’ve decided, with Pksage’s suggestion/permission, that I’ll do those three metal songs I mentioned as a separate pack from the rest of the Halloween singles. I will also release “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” by Skrillex on Halloween as a single, to at least provide one well-known song that fits the Halloween theme.
Thinking about doing Roky Erickson – Night of the Vampire, seems to be pretty easy to hear most of the instruments due to the clean mixing but no promises yet. If anybody wanna collaborate in it that would be cool of course.
A user by the name of GandWuser gave me their project file for a song they worked on about a year ago called “Nobody Likes You (When You’re Dead)” by Zombina and the Skeletones so that I may release it this Halloween, so I’ve added it on the list of things to be released.
