Is this worth making a thread over here?
I’m not sure how the voting on the spreadsheet works or is used and wasn’t sure if those guys are on here often, though I know they’ve released customs on here that were outside the GHtoRB3 conversion project.
If you guys are here often, would votes/requests and +1s for the next conversion from a thread like this be taken into account? Or would that only be in the xboxiso thread? Or is it strictly based off the spreadsheet voting?
Anyways, love the project and the songs released so far. And the list of remaining songs is great too.
But if any consideration will be given for votes on some of the next songs to be converted, I’d like to throw out a couple. If not, it’s still gravy, since they’ll be along eventually.
GH Aerosmith:
Aerosmith – Toys in the Attic / Rag Doll
Mott the Hoople – All the Young Dudes
GH Van Halen:
Foreigner – Double Vision
Van Halen – Everbody Wants Some!
GHWT DLC:
Eagles of Death Metal – Cherry Cola
Wolfmother – Dimension
BAND HERO:
Ok Go – A Million Ways
Rolling Stones – Honky Tonk Women
GH5:
Billy Squier – Lonely is the Night
Face to Face – Disconnected
Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil
GH5 DLC:
Ok Go – Do What You Want / Get Over It
Pavement – Cut Your Hair
Vampire Weekend – All 3
GH WOR:
The Cure – Fascination Street
Rolling Stones – Stray Cat Blues
Silversun Pickups – There’s No Secrets This Year
Hopefully some of those are on the horizon!
Either way, looking forward to the next batch of songs you release.
Thanks again for your hard work!
June 3, 2013 at 8:13 pm #400477There is one Guitar Hero song I want SO BAD: Iron Man by Black Sabbath.
I never owned a PS2 and sadly they haven’t included it in Smash Hits ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
June 3, 2013 at 9:51 pm #400480Oh man….I would love Iron Man! I also would love Lonely Is The Night, Honky Tonk Woman and Sympathy for the Devil.
June 3, 2013 at 10:02 pm #400481There is one Guitar Hero song I want SO BAD: Iron Man by Black Sabbath. The mogg files for the GH1/GH2/GH80s songs lie out there in the internetz. Someone *could* take the time to chart the covers with the guitar stem.
But then the dilemma arises, of having the guitar-friendly covers, or the simple mp3/flac/wav file of the original. Personally I’d go for the covers ’cause hey, working guitar/bass stems.
June 4, 2013 at 3:29 am #400487Didn’t the original GH1 version of Iron Man cut out a huge chunk of the song?
June 4, 2013 at 4:49 am #400489You know, all this talk about getting a song from the Guitar Hero sure makes me excited for this Friday. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
That’s all you’re getting from me.
June 4, 2013 at 6:28 am #400490Didn’t the original GH1 version of Iron Man cut out a huge chunk of the song? The cover’s missing the 3rd verse and the pre-chorus after it, and the outro is butchered.
Supposing that the tracks were ripped properly, it should have the guitar stem and the backing track. So the options would be:
1. Using a condensed cover with a working guitar track.
2. Using the non-multitrack original studio recording.
3. Nag TrojanNemo into getting us cover multi-tracks for Iron Man like he did for “Scotty Doesn’t Know.” And TrojanNemo, if you’re reading this, can you lettuce know the website you got the cover stems from?
June 4, 2013 at 11:14 am #400498I’d prefer the non-multitrack original recording, but I’d be happy with either.
June 4, 2013 at 11:20 am #400500Just so you know, conversions must keep the original structure, plus the added instruments (so if it’s a cover in the original version, it will be a cover as a custom).

…Ha ha!

There are some VERY nice songs on that site. Including some stuff we already have customs for. If I bought the stems for the following would it be easy for someone out there to modify the existing customs to use the stems instead (I love being able to turn the original vocal track all the way down when I sing)?
Black Dog
Kashmir
Stairway to Heaven
Sweet Child o’ Mine
Mr. Brownstone
Welcome to the Jungle
Fool for Your Loving
I’ll also donate the stems for any tracks currently in the works, etc that are on the site. 22 Acacia Avenue!??!? I wish!

Those specifically (which I’ve done, except for Stairway to Heaven, that I think Nemo will comment on), thanks but no thanks, I really don’t like covers. Plus, these are almost all monuments, I’m not gonna touch them. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”> I also take care of my own stems, no money wanted/needed, thanks: it’s kind of you but we don’t accept money. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
By the way, a cover uses a different tempo map (so that has to be done from scratch) and as much as it tries to be faithful more than a few things change. Is it time consuming like doing a song from scratch? No. Is it quick? Nope. Watch out for Fool for your Loving if you want to work on that one though: I’ve done the ’89 version, not the ’80 version, for which however at the time I did find the most material (so maybe the cover is of that earlier version).
P.S. I’ve just listened to the Fool for your Loving cover sample. It was painful.
June 5, 2013 at 7:30 pm #400595Since we’re *obviously* talking about the GHtoRB3 project, I might as week ask: I found online the multi-tracks and midi files for some RB/GH games.
– Can C3–and by C3, I mean “we”–take a stab at converting some of these songs, assuming we don’t half-ass it and submit the .RPP/.RBA files for review/support? Or is it something that should be left to the GHtoRB3 team out of respect?
– If yes to my previous question, will the tutorial explain the charting process for these songs, along with descriptions of some GH MIDI events and files?
June 7, 2013 at 5:49 pm #400789Still waiting for “The Seeker” from guitar hero III.
Would prefer the actual song to the cover though.
June 7, 2013 at 10:00 pm #400829The one song I am dying to have is Shinedown – Sound of Madness from GH5 DLC. I’ll probably just do a guitar chart for myself while I am waiting.
