Just thought I’d tease a soon to be released song…
This artist had plenty of prior success with a legendary band, but this single as a solo artist stands out as a true gem. It is not Sammy Hagar or David Lee Roth. It went to #3 on the Billboard hot 100. The song features two guitar solos, but by two different guitarists.
It could be out as soon as tonight. I just have reductions left.
February 5, 2014 at 6:12 am #413506Guitar: Really fun. First solo is Joe Walsh, second is Steve Lukather, from Toto.
Drums: Fairly simple, but a lot of varying fills.
Bass: Just a repetitive riff. Nothing too interesting.
Keys: The same chords repeated over and over.
Vocals: Pretty damn fun. I think I did well. Some back and forth talkies at the end make it fun with multiple people.
I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking Henley was long overdue for a track in the game. I think I did the song justice. I hope you enjoy it! If you look at my release history, you can probably predict what’s next.

Could Boys of Summer be next? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

HOLY SHIT YOU ARE AWESOME
February 5, 2014 at 2:13 pm #413524This was on my to-do list. Awesome!!
February 5, 2014 at 3:40 pm #413532Thank you for Dirty Laundry, probably my favorite Henley solo track (along with some really close runners up). I am so glad that you haven’t given up on charting vocals. It’s such a bummer when I come across a custom track that I love only to realize that it’s not charted for a full band. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve watched and read the tutorials and vocals seem quite intimidating, but FWIW please know that it’s greatly appreciated. Also been enjoying your hints prior to dropping the tracks just like the old HMX threads (and of course the weekly hints right here in C3’s General Discussion area by Mr. Espher). I’m terrible at figuring them out, but it’s fun running them past friends & family members. Many of them don’t even play RB but they still call me to find out if they were right ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

February 5, 2014 at 5:20 pm #413537Yep, I am so thankful that you stuck with vocals and are putting out these great custom songs. Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Oh and I love the hints as well! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
February 5, 2014 at 5:20 pm #413538Thanks for all the nice replies. The reason I did vocals was because the midi I found of it was 95% spot on. It didn’t take very long to fine tune it. I’ll probably never just leave out vocals entirely from now on. I will at least do talkies. I don’t want to be the “guy that does a lot of good songs, but some aren’t complete” guy. But Henley deserved to be charted right.
Also,
probably sealed the deal for me to do this song.
February 5, 2014 at 7:23 pm #413547The vocals are very good on this one, but there’s a few things that are missing. For example, some phrases where there is a key change mid-word, are just one key all the way throughout. An example is the line “Well I could have been an actor, but I wound up here” the word “here” at the end, starts at G#, then at the end changes to Eb, in the MID, it’s G# all the way through. It’s just those little subtle things which are being missed, but again like I mentioned with “Don’t go away” I’m not blaming you because they aren’t your MID’s, but it could use a little cleanup sometimes, but all and all a very well done job once again by you.
February 5, 2014 at 9:01 pm #413555Thanks for noting that. I just don’t have the ear to pick that up. In a perfect world, I’d like to have my songs HMX level quality, but that just ain’t gonna happen. My goal with vocals is to let people sing it without going “WTF I know I hit that!” and all of a sudden they get annoyed at me and my entire work quality is being questioned.
I’m working on a Bon Scott AC/DC song right now, but I’m taking my time to get the pitch charting up to my standards. I wish I could get to your level, but I’m not that dedicated to it. I do like having people like you point out this stuff though. The compliments are always awesome, but notes like this keep me from getting lazy and assuming I’m doing flawless work.

Keep ’em coming! Nice surprise with the Henley and very excited for Bon Scott.
