Thanks again for all your hard work on these songs. If they are out by Halloween, great…..but if not, you don’t need to apologize for anything. The work you have done on these is incredible and don’t worry about meeting any deadline. They will be done whenever they are done and we will all love them! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 30, 2015 at 4:23 am #458452I’ve posted an update to “Spooky” in case I don’t get back to it before Saturday. 5-lane keys have been added, and guitar and bass are now fully reduced and playable at all difficulties. All other instruments (including 5-lane keys) are still expert-only. I still hope to get this one completely finished in time for Halloween, but this ought to be good enough for any All-Hallows’-Eve Eve Rock Band plans.
December 5, 2015 at 6:19 pm #460313So you’ll see over in my release thread that the two Billy Joel tracks are ready to go. It isn’t quite Halloween, and the remaining tracks probably won’t be finished quite this year, but rest assured I’m still working on them.
In the meantime, I’ve moved all my current WIPs to the first post, so you can see what’s still in the pipe. Once I finish a long-overdue contribution to the Beatles Discography Project, I’ll be back on these again.
December 5, 2015 at 9:31 pm #460337Very good contributions man!
January 20, 2016 at 7:25 pm #462348Glenn Frey’s passing reminded me to ask about a status update of “Heartache Tonight”?
January 21, 2016 at 10:44 pm #462388“Heartache Tonight” is still in the queue as are the rest still in this thread. Life’s been busier than ever lately, but this week I’ll get some other long-awaited customs work finished and then get back to my own WIP’s.
May 22, 2016 at 2:21 am #469111To everyone who has been waiting patiently for the two songs still in the queue, I promise I haven’t forgotten them, nor abandoned them. Time for customs work, and even time for Rock Band play, has been very scarce lately. First I had a bit of a health scare a couple of months back, which thankfully turned out to be nothing. Then, as that was clearing up, something even weirder happened. I got put on a project at work I actually enjoyed and was motivated to work on! Of course I always made sure I did my job before, but now it was to the point where I didn’t have much mental capacity to do anything else at the end of the day!
Despite all the drama and fun, I am still stealing little scraps of time here and there for Rock Band and customs, and this evening I finally finished the expert guitar track for “Heard It in a Love Song”. As a favor to those who have been waiting very patiently, I plan on finishing expert bass and expert 5-lane keys and then releasing a new WIP before I start work on reductions. Since the bass is very simple and I already have a pro keys chart, these charts should fall into place more quickly than the guitar chart.
“Heartache Tonight” is still warm on the to-do list as well, so stay tuned!

(WIP link removed. “Heard It in a Love Song” is now done! Find it here.)
There’s still a ways to go. There aren’t enough energy phrases, making gold stars on anything but vocals pretty much impossible. Guitar and bass were tested, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t break drums or pro keys since the last go ’round, but 5-lane keys is untested so I make no guarantees there. I plan on playing with the guitar and bass animations at least a little more, I’m thinking about bumping up the guitar difficulty rating, and of course, those pesky reductions. But I’ve made y’all wait long enough, so here’s something in case I’m hit by that proverbial bus. Critiques are welcome, especially now while it’s still officially in the to-do pile.
May 24, 2016 at 9:56 am #469252Good to see you back at it. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
May 24, 2016 at 11:30 am #469255Love this song, thanks for not giving up on it.
May 24, 2016 at 11:54 am #469257Yay. Looking forward to it.
FWIW, I’ve sang “Allentown” in Rock Band about 25 times since you’ve released it, so please know that these songs are very much appreciated.
July 2, 2016 at 12:06 am #471380The latest FujiSkunk WIP news: I’m tweaking my customs workflow a bit with the goal of touching more songs and keeping myself motivated to work on them. The immediate bad news is, this means “Heartache Tonight” likely won’t be finished as quickly as it could be. The good news is, I will keep that one active until it’s complete, and by the time it’s done, I should have a few other projects in the pipe. Each new project could be a song I start from scratch, or it could an offer to collaborate. We’ll just have to see where the chips fall. People interested in tracking my progress can do so with this Google Sheet.
I plan on posting WIP’s here as they become fully playable at least for some players if not the whole band. I think that will mean either when vocals and harmonies and/or at least two instruments are done, with reductions. To that end, here is my latest work on “Heartache Tonight”, with bass and drums given some additional polish and fully reduced for all skill levels:
(Edit: “Heartache Tonight” is now complete! Find it here!)
I suspect I’ll be touching songs that won’t reach full-band status before I’m done with them. For those songs or any other, offers to collaborate are welcome!
Cross your fingers that my next update will be soon!
March 5, 2017 at 6:22 am #482296“The best laid plans of skunks and men…”
So my efforts to get more custom work flowing along has just about amounted to a whole hill of nothing. Between more health drama, lots of other distractions and recently starting a new job, my Rock Band time has been sadly lacking, to say nothing of actually making customs for Rock Band.
But, these past few months haven’t left me completely empty handed…
For someone who claims to be a big fan of the Project, you’d think I’d have several songs from them ready to go by now. That is one of the many goals for customs I have, but in the meantime, here is my first APP custom… or at least here will be the first. Bass, drums, keys and pro keys are all ready to go, with full difficulty reductions. Guitar and vocals are still in the queue. Tests and critiques are welcome, even while this one’s still a WiP.
As it turns out I’ve been toying with a few other RB-related things, and I think I’m going to focus on one of them before I work on the remaining bits for “Limelight”. The bad news is this will remain a WiP for a little while longer, but the good news is, I think a lot of people will like the other things I’m working on, and some of them should be ready fairly soon. No promises, but keep your fingers crossed!
