UPDATE 8/5 – Frank Zappa “Uncle Remus” full band

    GUITAR/BASS/VOCALS: nsw1-6

    5 LANE KEYS: Bansheeflyer

“Uncle Remus” is co-written by keyboardist George Duke, this song is more his than Zappa’s, at least judging by how it sounds. A slow soul-rock number, with very inspired piano playing and female back vocals by Tina Turner and the Ikettes. Musically, it sounds out of place on the 1974 LP Apostrophe (as it would have on any other Zappa album from this period): too serious. This is clearly a song about the civil rights movement in the United States as Zappa saw it in 1974.

UPDATE 8/12 – Frank Zappa “five-five-FIVE” full band

    Video Preview

    GUITAR: BearzUnlimited

    BASS: nsw1-6

This blistering opening track from an album comprised entirely of guitar solos gets it’s name from the time signatures. (5/8 and 5/4)
Drummer Vinnie Colaiuta tears it up all throughout.
