Saxophone on keys
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – The Whammy
Saxophone on Keys
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins – Constipation Blues
Saxophone and trumpets on Keys
Trumpet on keys
This is an overhaul of the version I posted in 2015. Every instrument has been redone, hopefully for the better. There is still room from improvement, especially on the guitar part. Vocals are now properly scraped which I thought I was doing at the time). Still unsure how he pronounces “asking” in this song though ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

The Muppets – Mahna Mahna (ft. Mahna Mahna & the Snowths)
A belated April fool’s joke. The actual joke being the audio quality paired with the charting.
This is not the 1977 album version, but rather the recording as it was aired during the first episode in 1976.-Almost opted for unpitched vocals on the Mahna Mahna parts as I kept changing them around without finding the right pitch. Decided to leave them pitched.
-Drums are ehhhh.
-Bass is okay and the xylophone on keys is a bit of an afterthought.Corrections are welcome (on any of the instruments)
Trivia: the song is a cover of an original by the Italian composer Piero Umiliani titled Mah nà Mah nà.

April 23, 2016 at 9:36 am #467479Thanks for the comments, guys!
And now for something completely different.
For a limited time only here What I Like About You by The Romantics. A collaboration with mr samjjones.
Normally this wouldn’t/probably shouldn’t have been posted, but time is ticking for this one as Harmonix seems to be at most a week away of announcing the song as dlc for Rock Band 4.
Is it playable? Well it depends on how high your standards are, but I would say “Yes” (go download and play this weeks episode of the House of Customs [/shameless plug]).
Guitar has the chart of the cover’s conversion by Nunchuk as a basis with notes stretched and added to make the timing better suited for the original.
There are lots of pitch collisions though and it should get a complete overhaul to make it actually good. It is also rife with 3-note-chords which, while they do add challenge, could be used a lot less for my taste. It will be interesting to see how Harmonix chart the guitar, almost nine years after they did it for Guitar Here Encore – Rock the 80s.
At least it will finally get me to take Rock Band 4 from its shrink wrap.Hope you enjoy!
-Update- And it’s gone.
April 23, 2016 at 10:27 am #467480Yay!
April 23, 2016 at 10:51 am #467482Oh sweet. Better grab this quickly.
April 23, 2016 at 1:09 pm #467485Grab it while it’s hot!
I remembered that this song also appeared on Guitar Hero Rocks the 80’s, so just for fun, I grabbed that midi, a vocal midi from some karaoke game, and dumped the original Romantics’ audio (not the cover) into a project to see what it looked like. After doing that, it was pretty clear to see how/why Activision got sued, because it was a pretty close match tempo wise. Once Jimi heard I was working on this, he jumped in with both feet and really did the lion’s share of actual work here in trying to modify the tempo and charts to match the original’s audio. Much thanks and appreciation to him!
Of course, all of those combined assets still didn’t give us a “releasable” song as-is, and Jimi really worked hard on the guitar/drums/bass/vocals charts this past week to try and make it a little more playable. We both think the guitar chart is still way too difficult, but when HMX listed the Romantics as a release this month, that kinda forced our hand to try and get it out the door sooner rather than never ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
So I hope everybody appreciates the short turnaround on this guy, and hope that it’s not too unpleasing to play.
Harmonica solo on keys, guys!
July 17, 2016 at 9:46 pm #472025You are watching Amazing Improvements and here is your host:
Hi everybody,
Are you ever tired of seeing your friends on Rock Band night, rocking out to David Bowie’s Rebel Rebel, while you sit on the couch with your keyboard, not playing?
Sure you cold play bass and guitar with your trusty two-octaves but it doesn’t quite scratch that same piano itch.
No other options but to sit it out, or serve drinks in sad, sad black-and-white video.
But all that has ch- ch- changed! Now, there is the incredible Ollie’s Aid
Thanks to Ollie’s Aid there are not just five keys to press,
Pro Keys are included as well!
If you order now you get improved drum reductions as well.
“But Mike, the people want more!”
“They want more? Well how about I throw in corrected Bass and Guitar parts? All thanks to the incredible Ollie’s Aid “
Improve your Rebel Rebel custom experience. Feel the difference for yourself
Don’t wait any longer and order Ollie’s Aid, TODAY!!
About two months ago, seemingly out of nowhere I got a PM by Ollie sending me a Reaper project for Rebel Rebel with keys and his blessing to use it to update the existing custom.
As if that wasn’t enough he also made improvements to several areas of the custom.
This upgrade was meant to go up a lot earlier than it did. And I am sorry to keep it from you guys for so long. All credits go to Ollie who not only knows how to make great customs, but is also a great person to have a conversation with.
Thanks a ton!July 18, 2016 at 6:04 pm #472054Wow! Two Ollies Aid for the price of one?! I’m jumping on this deal before it sells out. Usually deals like this are limited time offers, or until supplies last.
GET YOURS NOW!!!

Thanks for the awesome update (Bowie deserves FB treatment). Also, for a very imaginative and entertaining post. This truly is a two’fer one deal.

September 9, 2016 at 11:51 pm #474703On 9-9-1941 Otis Redding Jr. was born, which would make today (for the good people across the pond at least) his 75th birthday.
Here are two of his songs. The first one, Respect, comes from his biggest selling album during his lifetime, Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul.
This is the song that Aretha Franklin took and made her own version of. It turned into a massive hit for her.Trumpet on keys
This is an overhaul of the version I posted in 2015. Every instrument has been redone, hopefully for the better. There is still room from improvement, especially on the guitar part. Vocals are now properly scrubbedd (which I thought I was doing at the time, but I missed the part where you use the Alt-key). Still unsure how he pronounces “asking” in this song though ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
The second one, These Arms of Mine is the song that got him his first major record deal. It subsequently became his first hit single.
Otis Redding – These Arms of Mine
I hope you all enjoy these songs and please feel free to leave suggestions on improving the charts.
Have fun.
September 10, 2016 at 12:23 am #474704Thank you Jimi369 for this wonderful tribute to one of the greatest Soul singers of all time! This is ‘download immediately’ material for sure!
