Its been out for a little bit, but Im curious, what did everyone actually think of this album?
As a lifelong Green Day fan, I will say that it does some nice experimenting, I just enjoy only a few songs on it, thats not like me to only enjoy a few songs & not the entire album. Im just curious to know how you all feel about their latest record.

Hmmm… their tempo and beats just like their past albums and song, it same
February 16, 2020 at 6:28 am #509731Uh oh here comes Synth.
I genuinely like the style. Although I’m not gonna be super ungrateful (like some certain people), I do hope to see more Green Day this year.
And yes, I’m about halfway done charting them for RB3. School got busy all the sudden.

February 16, 2020 at 12:44 pm #509733I don’t agree with Anthony Fantano that it is a strong 0/10. But it is definitly their weakest album, 4/10 imo.
Though what is absolutely terrible is the marketing for it, a bunch of vomiting unicorns is the sort of things you would see in 2009 on Classic Youtube, it is now 2020 so it seems very out of touch. Also the whole “pure uncut rock” bullshit is such a bad phrase in multiple ways. Number 1, the album isn’t great or even that rock-like. Number 2 Green Day themselves are very highly criticized by the people that say this kinda thing, especially the gatekeeping punk fans. Number 3 it is just a bad gatekeepy phrase anyway. Like it is damning to other rock musicians, and it seems super out of touch with them.
That said I do like greenday and I am seeing them live, I hope they make a comeback, I wasn’t took Keen on Revolution Radio though (wasn’t bad, just forgetful) but I still have faith. I mean Greenday themselves had 1 revival already, surely they can do it again. Also I will say even though this album was trash as Atruejedi best put it, would still rather listen to it than Blink 182’s Nine, because at least this album wasn’t produced by John Feldman.
If you use Pro Keys 2 Hands, you a cheater, just saying
February 16, 2020 at 5:38 pm #509737See, I’ve just come to accept it. The “Green Day community” were waiting a while for a leak to come and then they say that they really hate it, doesn’t seem right to me.
I do still think that Green Day is doing this on purpose, maybe not for the reasons we think. They are acting very suspicious.
Overall, this album shouldn’t have been a Green Day one (if they genuinely thought this is something they wanted to do,) it should have been a Foxboro Hot Tubs second album. I think it would have been much more enjoyable. Here is a song from one of Green Day’s side bands, Foxboro Hot Tubs, that I think sounds similar:
I’d agree that it isn’t nearly their best, but I didn’t expect much. I still love Sugar Youth, Stab You in the Heart, and Graffitia.
February 16, 2020 at 5:41 pm #509738And then there was Panicland who hyped people up thinking it was Green Day, love these guys though.

Releasing a shitty album… on purpose? To what end? You’re in full excuse mode, now ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Also, please don’t soil the good name of Foxboro Hot Tubs. That album is dope and can’t even be compared to this flaming dumpster of an album.

I’ve seen this thrown around a lot online since the album’s dropped. The theory amongst that crowd is: The band’s got one option left on their contract with Reprise/Warner and want to go independent, so they throw together an album they don’t care about with a 26 minute runtime, which people are for some reason thinking is the shortest duration a label would accept for a contractual full length option, and then they’re done with the label and are finally free to do whatever they want independently.
February 16, 2020 at 8:18 pm #509742I didn’t like it.
It wants to be a punk record but doesn’t have the speed or songwriting to justify it

Huh. Never thought of that. Interesting!

You’re entitled to your own opinion, but you don’t have to be that harsh.

February 17, 2020 at 4:07 pm #509761It has a few songs that I enjoy. Overall I can’t really get into the album but I’d hesitate to say it’s as bad as people say it is. I feel like this is one of the classic “their sound changed so it’s automatically bad” elitism. Like the fans think they know what the band should sound like and screw what the band itself wants to do.
I also don’t really think anyone who responds with little more than “garbage” should have their opinion taken seriously. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
February 18, 2020 at 1:42 am #509773I haven’t followed Green Day since 21st Century Breakdown, so I haven’t listened to the record and can’t leave a comment.
