Hey guys, I’m DVDSmith, I love this website and I’m very happy to be able to contribute. I’ve just finished my first custom and I have a couple more in the pipeline.

 

My music tastes are primarily classic rock but I’m also a big fan of video game music, post-grunge and adult contemporary. I work primarily from full band scores and/or MIDIs, so all instruments will be charted (except pro guitar/bass). All difficulties will also be charted (time permitting).

 

My plan to start with is to do several Bon Jovi songs, and then branch into under-represented artists like Bryan Adams, as well as some Sonic the Hedgehog stuff (more Crush 40 + character theme songs). I have several full-band books and MIDIs which I’m working from, so if people like I can post a list of what I have to help others who want to chart some of those songs.

 

Unfortunately having a full-time job and other commitments mean I can only spare one or two hours per week to work on customs, so I can’t do much in the way of playtesting beyond my own, but I’ll try to help in any way I can. This also means that outside of the charts themselves I don’t really have time to author things like guitar hand animation or venue animation so occasionally that would have to be done by somebody else.

Are you willing to hold off on releasing other things (or at least some of the other things) you chart to coincide with our weekly release schedules + throw them through playtesting? This is a track, for example, that I think would be pretty well received as a C3 release.

I have no problem with doing that – the only reason I posted this one and released a version of it was because I’d been working on it for ages and promised certain people I would let them know as soon as it was done. Everything else I’m happy to put through C3’s release schedule.

Plus most of the first two albums. I also want to do some These Days/Crush using the MIDIs I found on this website, as well as Richie Sambora’s “Stranger in This Town”, because it’s my favourite song of all time and I have a great MIDI of it.

“Green Forest” from Sonic Adventure 2 is now in playtesting!

 

Another thing – I’m on vacation for two weeks from the 1st of June. Not too sure how much time I’ll be able to dedicate to customs (it may be more, it may be less), but I’ll try to get some work done on a couple of tracks.

Now that Green Forest is almost done, I’ve started work on Raise Your Hands, which is coming along nicely. If all goes well I should have an Expert-only playable version within the next couple of weeks.

 

Also changed the next song I’ll do after RYH – due to a friend’s request, I’m doing Always next. Hopefully this will make a lot of people happy since it’s arguably the biggest hit missing from the Greatest Hits pack. Still planning on doing Keep the Faith at some point but it’s been moved back a bit.

Speaking of which, “Fight” by No Vacancy is a horrific song to tempo-map. I’m having to go beat-by-beat in some places because the drummer is so out of time.
