Does anyone else feel like the overall quality of DLC for RB4 has declined?

Not the quality of content. I actually feel they have been releasing some killer DLC lately. The problem I have is charting for most songs seems very subpar compared to RB1-RB3 standards. The last I heard was they were outsourcing DLC, which I wouldn’t have a problem with if they would just follow the standards HMX has set from previous games.
Secondly, it has been coming more common for them to use DIY stems. The reason I was happy RB4 was coming back was to get multitrack DLC back. I enjoy customs, but multitrack just adds an extra layer of realism that mp3 customs lack. Even with multitracks, the DLC sounds just like the original MP3 with no modifications to make it better in game.
If I knew HMX would not be able to meet their own previous set standards, I would of just stuck with RB3. I probably should of known something was up when all the faces of the company that we had known “left”.
July 17, 2016 at 9:09 pm #472021I have not been happy with dlc lately, mostly about the DIY stems mostly.
Also i’ve been like why buy it when i can play it for free in GHL too.
July 20, 2016 at 5:57 am #472149Saw a video on youtube of some RB4 where a snare hit was missing – that blew me away…

Which song was that?
July 20, 2016 at 7:07 am #472151Uptown Girl the fill just after 2:34 sounds like it goes (snare), (snare), (crash+snare)EDIT: My bad, I see now it was during one of the new “custom fills”.
Still missing two snare notes though, could be a bug with the feature? Not as serious as a bodged chart though haha, sorry for the false alarm.
After looking up these new fills I get that there was a lag that was difficult to compensate for but am I really in the minority when I say I loved the custom fills?
July 20, 2016 at 7:10 am #472152I didn’t hear anything. You can check the C3 chart to see if it was charted there, too.
July 20, 2016 at 7:16 am #472153Yeh I have the song I’m pretty certain it is, but I’ll check it now anyway.
It looks like there might some kind of audio blending issue, whereby the original fill can still be heard. I’m POSITIVE I can hear snare on those two yellow notes. Specifically the two yellows before the crash he hits for OD, you’re sure you can’t hear it? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
July 20, 2016 at 7:18 am #472154FYI: I spotted it on my first time watching the vid, but i’m just now checking, and I’ve played it in slo mo and everything (720p60fps) and there’s definitely snare hits there.
July 20, 2016 at 7:19 am #472155Oh, I hear it now. Yeah, probably a bug or something. Not surprising to see this from an unfinished game. No big deal, though.
July 20, 2016 at 7:20 am #472156Yeh, I know. Shit myself at first though, thought they’d botched the chart and was about to REALLY question the new dlc.
July 20, 2016 at 7:22 am #472157Wait, I’m looking at a video without any fills and it’s still the same. Maybe it is a charting error.
Just after 2:44.
July 20, 2016 at 12:38 pm #472165July 20, 2016 at 12:47 pm #472167Impossible to tell without the stems. You have no idea how misleading full mixes sound until you author with stems. Plus, they DID change some of their stances on drums authoring for reasons, so that might be in play too. I don’t think RB4 DLC quality is actually any worse than the “bridge DLC” we had, with wrong animations and undercharting: those were weeks when a case could have been made for a decline in quality.
July 20, 2016 at 5:38 pm #472185Yeah the “bridge DLC” really upset me. I was so excited DLC was back to find out not only was it just a few songs to announce Rock Band 4 but the quality was crap and that free one (I Still Believe I think it was called) clearly had keys but Harmonix decided to give the finger to keys players at that point and not let them go with one final song.
I’ve been hearing gripes about RB4 DLC outside C3 as well. Sounds like Harmonix will have to re-brand as “RB4 DLC: RBN-quality songs at the professional level!”
July 20, 2016 at 10:36 pm #472210Plus, they DID change some of their stances on drums authoring for reasons, so that might be in play too.
I missed that discussion and now I’m curious. What changed? Feel free to show me where I can read it myself.
