In a song where the drummer is using the disco flip technique but with two rides, one on either side, how should it be charted?
You could do it like any other 16th note disco pattern, but with alternating blue and yellow cymbals.
“The Last Sound” by Grammatrain has a chart that might be what you’re trying to go for.
(Timestamp = 3:22)
Is that close to what you were talking about in a real song? This is from Rush’s Bravado, and has the left hand playing a hi-hat and the right playing a ride. If I’m understanding you correctly, you said your drummer is playing a ride on the left?
If so, chart it like a normal disco-flip, just with Blues for the right Ride. In the animations, if you want to be more accurate, I’d make the left handed ride hits a LH Crash 1 Soft.
Check out this snip from that same section of song when I charted it for C3. Ignore the two toms that I had to use in each measure, and you should see the pattern. Right Ride on Blue Cymbal, Left “Ride” on Red, and then Snare on Yellow. Make sure it’s all under the [mix 3 drums0d] marker.
