While NL and I don’t see eye to eye often, I wanted to chime in to agree with her insofar as authoring pro drums is a must. As you may have noticed, not a single Visualizer image ever made shows “Pro” even though the songs have Pro Drums, because it’s not something you can turn off in game. If you don’t author guitar, or bass, or keys, or pro keys, etc, I can see that when I select the song in game. That’s not an option for pro drums. So I pick pro drums, and now I’m playing toms on my cymbals. That to a drums player is the same as copy/pasting 5 lane keys onto Pro Keys and leaving it enabled for someone to try and play in game.
Authoring is not easy, sure. But once the drum chart is authored, adding pro drums is literally adding one marker on top of each note that should be a tom rather than a cymbal. This may be somewhat difficult to grasp when it’s a single mp3 kind of custom, but if you’re doing GH converts, you have the toms on their own audio track. Every time there is audio on the tom stem, just put a pro drum marker over the existing drum charts. I think that’s easy enough?
I also don’t want to think that this community has slipped so much to the point where any kind of criticism, advice, or comment is always construed as a personal attack and nobody ever wants to learn from others. So I hope I don’t get the same “this is my thread, these are my customs, I do whateva I want” treatment and instead something good comes of it.

It’s not “any criticism” though. Adding pro markers is not a simple operation and it requires knowledge of what goes where. Plus, rules have it that if an author has already said that they can only do so much, no harassment is needed. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif”> What he does now is what he can do, that’s it. Anybody don’t like that? Excellent, they can contribute by adding what’s needed and in the meantime learning the craft. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
October 10, 2014 at 4:19 pm #430865I don’t want to get involved in the argument about Pro-Drums or whatever….
I just wanted to say thank you again to Spindoctor for everything he has put out. Even if you don’t put out anything else, I will be forever greatful for what you have given us and it has brought my wife and I many hours of enjoyment! Rest assured that there are many others like me that could care less about arguments about Pro-Drums or venues or animations (not to take anything away from C3 or other authors that do the whole thing, you guys are amazing!!!)…we are just happy to have great songs to play in our favorite music game. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Anyway, thanks again for everything you have done. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 10, 2014 at 4:49 pm #430869Yup I lost it a bit there & I am sorry for that. I will take your advice, I wished I had even a small amount of your patience. I enjoy this community like everyone else that comes here on a daily basis to see what the good people from this site provide us with for free entertainment.
I do get offended when a prominent author comes on and tells anyone that something is simple or easy, for some it is, for most it isn’t. I am one of the ones who don’t find drums simple or easy.
I am not done with conversions and I do intend to do more & they will be the same quality that I have previously released, in saying that it will be awhile before I release any. Winter is coming and that will give me the time needed to finish up what I started.
For anyone who would like to complete Pro drums on what I have released message me & I will gladly send you all the files you need.
Thanks to Hetz & Sideshow for your kind comments
October 10, 2014 at 7:51 pm #430886Hi I’m new here to the forums and I just wanted to ask, what keeps your customs from being “C3 standards”, I always hope for these songs to pop up one friday but they never do, but then I find them here!Basically I don’t worry about animations, venues, album art, Pro drums, etc or any of the other stuff that C3 is really good at. As long as the song is in sync with the notes that is good for me. They will have flaws but they are still fun to play.
OH GOT’CHA! thanks for the info bro! yeah I can imagine how some of that doesnt matter, especially when its just me playing in my room or something
October 11, 2014 at 3:40 am #430912Any chances of seeing She Builds Quick Machines, Hush, Crazy on You, La Grange, Heat of the Moment or Warrior get Drums added? Would love to see that for when I have Rock Band parties.

Would love to see that for when I have Rock Band parties.I won’t be adding drums as I am not an author. I only know how to convert them from Guitar Hero. Not being a drummer I would have no idea where to start even. I thought some of these might get finished by an experienced drum charter but unfortunately they haven’t.
October 11, 2014 at 10:27 pm #430938I’d be interested in adding drums to Hush, Cray on You, and Heat of the Moment but not this month as I am busy with charting some songs for the end of the month. Maybe next month I can get to them.

FYI – Kem has already added vocals to Doc’s “Crazy On You”; your drums would finally get this one to FB!

Hey there. So I’ve been catching up on this thread, mostly because I was excited that the title indicated that Boys Round Here was charted. I already downloaded it without reading the rest of the thread and then was a little bummed when I got to the post that said it didn’t have Pro Drums, since that’s what I play. (Not to tear open an old wound, but I have a point…)
I wanted to start charting a year ago, and this one was on my short list of songs I wanted to do, but was struggling to get started, and then my Reaper trial license ran out, so I gave up.
If you wouldn’t mind, I would love to take a stab at not only testing the drums you have (since you say you have no way to do so), but also try to add the Pro features to the drum chart.
I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to do it, but unless you have some back-end side-deals going on, I don’t see a lot of other people jumping up to offer.
Let me know if I can help!

No worries. I just looked at the file & it needs drum fills & pro tom work by the look of it. I will package up all the files you should need & send you a PM with links

January 10, 2015 at 4:25 am #435924This is four months late, but here I go anyways: ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
I’m just throwing my two cents in here. Yeah, I know I’m just that audio guy, I still haven’t grasped charting myself. As far as things go, charters or converters should be left to chart what they want/can. (Unless you are part of a group that requires you knowing and utilizing it.) It’d be like a bunch of people coming up to me whining about my rips not coming with vocals charted. Sure I could learn how, and maybe do it, but that doesn’t mean I want to right now.
For now, I’d say offer to help the Doc (which some have been doing) by taking a stab at the drums yourselves (those willing to) and help him update his songs. If and when he’s ready, he’ll get pro drums down. Demanding he do it, or stating your opinion of his works based on a missing part tend to not usually be constructive. Instead, lets try being more constructive and less judgmental.
“OMG Y U NO HAZ PRO DRUMS! UR SONG SUCKS!!!1” – Non-constructive
“This author refuses to put my favorite instrument into the song, so I’m not downloading it!” – Non-constructive
“It’s common practice around here to use pro-drums. They are easy, so start using them or you look bad.” – Also, non-constructive
“Hey Doc, I see that you aren’t using pro-drums in those charts of yours. Why is that? Would you or someone else be willing to come back at some point and consider adding them to your songs ? It would really be appreciated, because I love playing pro-drums!” – Constructive with just a hint of ass kissing. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
I’m not trying to undermine anyone with this, or start some big discussion about how to treat authors. I’m just asking that people try and be a little nicer.
RAWR. End of outdated rant.

Hmm, either you are charting some pro-drums *gets shot*, or you’re working on something I have a good idea what it is but won’t spoil because it is great if you like a certain band that starts with an “A”. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

Thanks OMCB.
It has been awhile since I released anything but I have been tinkering again. I admit I got burnt out doing converts. Mainly because I got tired of doing songs that I will never play at my weekly jam sessions.
It’s good to see you still slaving away at making the tunes sound better & I won’t shoot you for thinking it’s Pro drums on my previous converts, even though it’s not. For now I have no plans to revisit mine, or any other GH converts.
What I am working on does not start with A but there is an a in the band name. They will have Pro drums/Guitar and a few songs will have somewhat shitty, but playable unpitched vocals done by me. I believe they might generate some excitement for the “older, weekend get together crowd” that still plays the game. There is a few people who know what I am up to but for now I hope to keep it a secret. Hopefully by next weekend I can have 4 or 5 tunes ready for action & it will no longer be a secret.
