    Hi there,

Recently ordered a xbox and a RB3 from amazon (played on Wii before). I made sure the pic from RB has no Madcatz logo on it, but unfortunately it seems its the Madcatz version (Madcatz logo appears when starting the game), as i get the disc read error when starting with TU4 or a custom song.

This is confusing for me. How do i make sure to get the right version? Does someone know where to order it? (im from Austria/Europe).

    Thanks i.a.

    Phil

Did it ask you to install an update when you booted the game? If so, you may be able to find/delete TU5 on your drive.

If not, I’d contact Amazon and rabble rouse about not getting what was ordered. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif”>

Yeah it sounds like TU5 is installed somewhere. Find it, delete and cancel update requests when starting the game then.

Check the actual disc. If the disc has MadCatz on it then get a refund. If the disc does not have MadCatz then delete TU5.

        Hi again,

The disc has no madcatz symbol, and an update has indeed been installed. So that means this cant be the madcatz version, because thats already TU5 right?

Then something else must have went wrong… i deleted TU5 and moved TU4 from a usb stick (d/l’d from here) to the internal memory. Thats when i get the cant read disc error right at the start of RB3.

TUs are region free, so… you /should/ be fine on that front.

Hmm. Not sure what to say. If you’ve got TU4 in, and no TU5 in the mix, you aren’t getting the Madcatz logo, right?

I couldnt start the game yet with TU4, so i dunno about the madcatz logo. Will try today by erasing any profiles, TU and savegames and start the game without update, to see if that anything helps.

It won’t even start with the TU? That’s… odd…

Aaaalright, its working now. Deleted every RB3 content, and made everything from scratch. My problem was obviously that i updated to TU5 first place, and that seemed to create a TU5 savegame and cache, which i guess caused the problem.

Im still confused about the TU5 now… if i update now, and move the update to the stick, then i just need to replace the sticks? Because in the above scenario that didnt work for me. Guess i have to try it sometime.

Don’t move the update to the stick, have the game download the update on a new TU5 stick, where you will move your savegame, your cache and, my suggestion, your profiles.

Oh ok, thanks for the hint!

For perfectly independent and failproof setup, keep 2 USB stick and one HDD, this way:

                – 2 USB sticks with TU# file with TU# save game, profile (your Live profile for TU5 and a not online enabled profile for TU4) and cache file, where # is the TU number. The only structural difference between the 2 sticks: you put your custom songs on the TU4 sticks only.

                – 1 HDD with all your official DLC and exports and your calibration settings file.

Ok that was clear enough. Thanks for all your support guys! Appreciate it <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

What are the negatives to keeping everyhing on the hard drive? Customs, DLC, TU4, etc. and using no USB sticks except to transfer new cons to the HDD?

I’ve been doing it this way since learning about customs (about the time when official DLC died) and have had no provlems thus far.

No negatives if you don’t need to ever play online. Thats how my setup is.
