Hello C3 Community. I learned about the existence of customs a few months (Feb 2013) before HMX stopped producing. Nyx really got me pointed in the right direction, but it was a lot of reading and frustration and failure before I could produce something worth a damn. I primarily sing and play guitar on expert, so that’s what I chart. I have a few with hard reductions on guitar, but most are expert only. (*edit – Farattone created the C3 Automation Tools in March 2014. I used CAT on all previous and future releases beginning in April 2014)

I want to give something back to the community that provided the means for me to make my own Rock Band songs, so I figure I’ll post at least two songs every Monday (depending on what’s happening in my real life – I didn’t chart at all last summer). These songs will contain only vocals and guitar, as I am a selfish author who charts for himself and his wife. I copy the guitar charts to the bass so the bassist doesn’t stand there doing nothing. (*edit – I started charting bass in April 2014 and went back to add it to previous releases) I don’t chart the drums, I just fill them in so the drummer, again, is not just sitting there – but they are no means even remotely playable. The vocals should be pretty close to what I sing like. Ever hear me? Good luck matching chops with THIS golden-throated vocalist. Seriously, I matched them as best I could in most songs and slightly more self-indulgently in others. For the guitar, as long as my tempo map is on, the guitar should feel pretty good in most songs. I’ve added lip-sync to almost all of them and, although it is far from perfect, at least he’s doing something.

I’m not really looking to improve these songs. They are what they are, they meet my needs, hopefully you might enjoy a couple yourself. If there’s something glaringly wrong that reaches out and slaps your pink face, speak up, otherwise don’t bother. Use it or delete it. Or alter it yourself. However, if these all really suck and I’m totally delusional, let me know and I’ll stop polluting this wonderful site with my garbage charts. All glory to the Creators!

Tada! Dont Let Me Get Me with the others added.

Drums~ foot pedal can be intimidating for novices but probably not intimidating for anyone whose been playing expert awhile. sometimes, it felt like the drums werent properly aligned sometimes but other times seems just fine (i was too chicken to touch your tempo mapping o.o)

Bass~….Fairly boring. Miss a note and you wont get up/back to x6 for years to come o_o

Keys~ Easy enough, its difficult because its constant. Also hard to really make out alot of the time.

Guitar~ mostly untouched, just took away the very beginning that i gave to keys. also added solo marker for the appropriate time

Vocals~Literally untouched. I WAS gonna add a hand clap/tambourine part but I couldnt place a note telling it to…so shrugged my shoulders and moved on lol Thought about editing so that it would indeed be the lead vocals instead of the looped. i think i even sang the lead when i was recording myself for the dry vox. but im so bad at vocals, id of likely ruined your work :v: ._. . . . .so i left it be lol

BTW the instruments only have expert difficulty.

Keep in mind im not quite an expert charter :ohdear: … so there may be/are probably problems that’ll be taken care of eventually. promise.

any chance we’ll see anymore alice in chains? Would love to see i stay away, angry chair or down in a hole.

Dude, Alice in Chains! Nice! I’d love to chart the drums on that song. I personally think the drums are the most fun to chart.

@EmotionalDaisy, well done! That’s a lot of work. And giving the intro to the keys only makes sense. Good to hear the vocals were on.

“I Stay Away” and “Angry Chair” are in the folder of the 120 or so songs I plan to work on over the next couple of years. “Down in a Hole” is one of my favorites and I’ve listened to it several times specifically with charting in mind and I’m not sure I could pull off the guitar. I can’t easily decipher which damned guitar is playing what parts when and I have so many other songs to play with, it doesn’t seem worth the trouble. I do have a few Alice in Chains already put together, however some are my earliest works and I’m not particularly happy with the tempo mapping in a few of the early efforts. I’ll play them through Thursday night and see which ones merit posting. One of them, “I Know Somethin’ (bout you)” is vocals only. It was an experiment using no tempo map at all and it actually works for just singing. The midi tempo is 120 but the song is not, so the band’s movements are a hair off time and I had to turn off the crowd’s clapping along, but I don’t notice it if I’m just singing, so no big deal. I pumped it out on a Sunday morning in less than three hours. I have one other song like it: “Reminiscing” by The Little River Band. I’m considering tempo mapping it so I can add the guitar on “I Know Somethin”, but I probably won’t do that for “Reminiscing”. So many songs, so little time.

Thanks, but i should be thanking you, for doing the part i cant very well. I like the song alot, one of my favorites back in the day, so when i saw you’d already done it, i jumped at the chance to add upon it

If ya have any other pop songs or similar in mind, i wouldnt mind co-authoring with ya, just give me a heads up.

“Just Like a Pill” is really the only other similar “pop” song I have lined up. Probably within the next few months – it’s one of the wife’s top 10.
