So after we all released the first pack today and it for me at least being one of the best C3 weeks ever, I still couldn’t help feel there are still so many other great songs with internet fame that would have been a blast to play in the game. This made me and Gigakoops think that perhaps a follow up pack sometime in the future would have been awesome, and we came up with this list of potential songs that would be pretty fun to play and/or iconic (in no particular order):

    – Sunstroke Project & Olia Tira – Run Away (Epic Sax Guy)

    – Rebecca Black – Friday

    – Dead Or Alive – You Spind Me Round

    – Edvard Khil – I Am Glad, ‘Cause I’m Finally Returning Back Home (Trololo)

    – Weebl’s Stuff – Badgers

    – Strong Bad – Trogdor

    – Caramell – Cramelldansen

    – Scatman John – Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop)

    – Men Without Hats – The Safety Dance

    – Daler Mehndi – Tunak Tuank Tun

    – Yello – Oh Yeah

    – Le GAG Quartet – Le Meme Medley

    – Momomo – Nyan Cat

    – Boots Randolph – Yackety Sax (Benny Hill Theme)

    – 311Erock – Call Me Maybe Meets Metal (FtV perhaps since someone did a guitar/drums custom of it)

Personally if we ended up doing this I would be really really up to chart the Epic Sax Guy song myself, I actually made a old FoFiX custom of it once and now that I know how to chart vocals and Keys it could be pretty awesome. Also I don’t know if all of the songs mentioned have “meme” status, but me and Gigakoops have seen a bunch of these used a lot in YTP’s and such so that counts right?

    Thoughts?

I think You Spin Me Round (which I’m already doing by the way) and Scatman are not really material for this pack, if I can give a piece of advice. I think you either need to do a proper-songs-tied-to-the-interwebs pack or a novelty songs pack. Again, just a piece of advice on the theme, ignore it at your own leisure.

Looking forward to see You Spin Me Round, but remember that the song is often associated with a popular shock site so I thought it would fit. But alright, fair enough

I’m just saying (but this is your pack, so you can choose whatever you think fits) that there’s a difference, in audience, between known songs that have been associated to memes (Never Gonna Give You Up, in example) but that actually have a life outside the meme, and songs that basically live only inside the meme.

I would try to keep the number of songs that were not solely internet-popular to a minimum (e.g. something like “Gangnam Style” or “Here It Goes Again”, while popular in the ‘mainstream’, got major traction on the internet, so they’re good to go… while “You Spin My Round” and “Safety Dance” were big 80s songs well before becoming lolinternet tracks).

Anyway, some other ones I feel that should be added (and I’ll keep repeating them!) based on my previous mentions, which DEFINITELY fall into the “then” category.:

Amy Castle – You’re My Honeybunch (The Cuppycake Song)

          * Short and sweet,

dates way back to the mid-to-late 90s but got a YTMND kick in the pants circa 2004 iirc. If you want a short ‘joke’ track, this one (with the higher quality audio that is out there) would fit.

The Laziest Men on Mars – Invasion of the Gabber Robots

          * This was the AYB meme track and dates back to some time between 1998 and 2000 iirc. Really muddy in any version you find, but it would fit the needs “hard songs” demographic. I will admit it gets kind of annoying after a while just because IT’S SO LOUD (and about a minute and a half too long), but, hey.

The Laziest Men on Mars – The Terrible Secret of Space

          *

          Happa-tai – Yatta!

          * If you were on the internet in 2001 and claim you didn’t hear this song or see the

, you’re a goddamn liar. A LIAR. This was one of the most famous “Animutation” flash videos, a genre that was created by Neil Cicierega (aka Lemon Demon) back when he was 12 or 13 or something. Internet legend.

루이스 (Louis) – 중화반점 (Chinese Restaurant)

          * Not one of my favourite picks, though notable, this 2001 track may not be familiar in its unedited form. You’ll need to speed the tempo up to match

, but let’s just say we all know where the Numa Numa guy got his inspiration. My friend pointed this one out to me, so blame him.

Liam Lynch – United States of Whatever

          *

got a lot of poorly edited parody versions, especially as animations and as YTMNDs. Pretty big stuff. From… 2003?

위치스 (Witches) – 떳다 그녀 (loosely translated as “She’s Here!” or “There She Is” iirc)

          * From this flash animation from way back in 2004, which remains one of the highest-rated NG flash animations of all time. The animation had several parts but this kicked it off.

          Dschinghis Khan – Moskau

          * One of the big YTMND tracks from 2004, looping with the chorus and the sweet dance moves featured in the video,

could also serve to fill Rock Band’s woefully underrepresented Disco quota with its bitchin’ chorus and sweet harmonies. And I don’t care what you say, Disco is awesome. And not dead.

          Lemon Demon – ebaumsworld.com

          * I was really hopeful we’d get this song after we got Ultimate Showdown, but eh. From 2005, when Eric Bauman was at the height of his douchebaggery.

TISM – Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me

          * I remember seeing

, get a heck of a lot traction, but that could just be me. Less a direct-to-internet-lulz track, but more along the lines of “Here It Goes Again”, in that it’s a song by an existing band that happened to go viral, since TISM has actually been around since 1982.

Other cool options include selections from the Madness flash series (if you want pure electronic music), Ievas Polka (the Leekspin song), a “Trogdor” convert from GH2, any of the Weebl and Bob stuff (Badgers being from 2003, Kenya from 2004), something from the Avenue Q soundtrack, more Group X stuff, any of the LazyTown stuff (“You Are a Pirate”, “Cookin’ by the Book”), or any of the movie/TV show quote remix things (e.g. the “Why is the Rum Gone” PotC remix, “The Picard Song”).

I’ll take a look at Yakety Sax, if that’s up for grabs.

          #408453

I’d like to suggest some songs if this pack happens that I would probably do. These are all from YouTubers.

Smosh – Firetruck, Vader Is A Friend of Mine, Dixon Cider (FtV)

Tobuscus – Get Bloody (parody of Get Lucky by Daft Punk)

Rhett & Link – My Favorite Pillow

Gregory Brothers – Winning, FtV of Oh My Dayum, Dead Giveaway

I actually have a custom of this song tempo mapped and kind of started. I’d be willing to collaborate with people to get this song done if anyone’s interested. But I’m doing the

            I personally like it better.

I also have another song to contribute.

This was a song popular on the internet in the UK at least. It was supposed to go on the RBN, but the deal fell through (2 rights holders, one agreed, the other did not). I would like to release it still, but it would have to go as a non-multitrack. Don’t want to piss off the rights holders too much
