Hi folks,

So, I have been advised that the Wii leaderboards went poof, and for me, this means that we can now start looking at score-impacting chart fixes for that platform only. Obviously the files will port over to 360 (and PS3) if/when the same happens there, but I won’t be including them in RBHP releases until that point in time.

Anyway, I decided it might be worth starting a thread to track required chart fixes (those that impact score and do not impact score), in the event people want to work on and submit them. I think it would also be helpful to have a ‘central repository’ of charts w/ known issues. Feel free to post any issues/fixes you’ve identified, and I’ll keep the OP updated with a list + their current status.

For now, please excludefixes for RBN charts from your consideration set. With all due respect to RBN authors, of which we have several here, there were a LOT of those charts with issues, and RBN as a whole is at the edge of the scope of this project. Keep it to official disc/DLC/export tracks.

For the sake of this discussion, the following are considered things needing to be ‘fixed’:

      • Incorrect or missing metadata – spelling errors, incorrect album titles, gummed up panning. Missing tonic info for pre-RB3 songs without harmony parts fit, too, but I think we have most of those, and I won’t include them in the list.
      • Clearly over/undercharted sections of songs. This is going to be open to plenty of debate, but there are certainly clear cut examples (e.g. early drum charts leaving out notes after fills), and that’s what I want to focus on. No “omg this solo is too noodly” posts, please.
      • Objectively incorrect charting. This could include issues with drum fills + overdrive phrases, or cases where a section of a pattern is wrong, or errors in pro drum charting, or vocal phrase marker start/end points, or early/late BREs, or broken disco flips, or things like the Panic Attack/Next to You blue notes… you know the drill.
      • Incorrect lyrics or lyric typos!

If you are reporting a fix, please try and be as specific as possible (a lot of the old stuff I’m including on this list is vague because I don’t have my original notes, but precision helps me or other contributors chart fixes). If you want to chart a fix, do it up, then upload the .rpp or a .midi export of the selected part/track ONLY (e.g. export only PART DRUMS for a pro drum fix). A fix is basically a complete replacement part, so it should be the original part with changes made to it.

I would also appreciate it other folks here could review and vet submissions others may make to save me some time.

With that out of the way, here is the list of reported/known issues:

Fixes that do not impact scoring

      Drums

[Released] Avenged Sevenfold – “Scream” – Disco flip notation/placement.

[Released] Black Sabbath – “Paranoid” – Pro drum notation.

[Reported] Blondie – “Rapture” – Disco flip notation/placement.

[Released] Dream Theater – “Panic Attack” – Issue with placement of blue note in Organ Solo B.

[Confirmed] Green Day – “Emenius Sleepus” – Pro drum notation.

[Confirmed] Green Day – “Homecoming” – Disco flip notation/placement.

[Reported] Iron Maiden – “The Clairvoyant” – Pro drum notation.

[Reported] Jimi Hendrix – “She’s So Fine” – Pro drum notation early in song.

[Reported] Molly Hatchet – “Flirtin’ With Disaster” – Drum fill placement (ends late, on bass).

[Released] Mute Math – “Control” – Disco flip notation/placement.

[Confirmed] Pantera – Great Southern Trendkill – Numerous reports of pro drums being mucked up pretty badly on this album.

[Confirmed] The Pixies – “Mr. Grieves” – Invisible drum fill!

[Released] The Police – “Next to You” – Very slightly misaligned blue note.

[Reported] Red Hot Chili Peppers – “They’re Red Hot” – Disco flip notation/placement.

[Released] Rush – “The Camera Eye” – Pro drum notation.

[Released] Rush – “Red Barchetta” – Pro drum notation.

[Released] Rush – “Tom Sawyer (Original Version)” – Pro drum notation.

[Released] Rush – “Vital Signs” – Pro drum notation.

[Reported] Stevie Nicks – “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” – Broke snare (reported).

[Reported] Stevie Ray Vaughan – “Rude Mood” – Disco flip notation/placement.

[Reported] Tom Petty – “Runnin’ Down a Dream” – Invisible drum fill!

[Released] Underoath – “Writing on the Walls” – Pro drum notation.

      Guitar

[Released] The Allman Brothers Band – “Ramblin’ Man” – Fixed the “same note” HO/POs in the solo (aesthetic fix, since they play the same either way).

[Reported] Black Sabbath – “War Pigs” – Guitar chords at ~6:06, last chord should be RY instead of RB.

[Reported] Kings of Leon – “Sex on Fire” – First note should be G, not R.

      Pro Keys

[Confirmed] Bon Jovi – “Bad Medicine” – Range switch placement (or lack thereof) leads to lots of notes appearing ‘off lane’.

      Vocals

[Reported] AC/DC – “Whole Lotta Rosie (Live)” – BRE starts late.

[Reported] Ozzy Osbourne – “Soul Sucker” – Octave shifts cause tubes to appear outside of chart.

[Confirmed] Sum 41 – “Fat Lip” – Syllables on wrong tubes in chorus.

      Fixes that impact scoring

      Drums

[Reported] Deep Purple – “Highway Star” – Been advised of issues with this drum part (my notes have Oddbrother sending me a fix, but I can’t find it – sorry bud).

[Reported] Foo Fighters – “Learn to Fly” – Missing notes.

[Reported] Trapt – “Who’s Going Home With You Tonight” – Missing snare at around 0:28.

      Guitar

[Reported] Foo Fighters – “The Pretender” – Sustains from 0:03 to 0:35 should be removed (open for debate, because what they are actually mapped to is debatable).

[Reported] Green Day – “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” – Change intro 16ths to sustains on quarters, because effect is vibrato.

[Reported] Kings of Leon – “Crawl” – Solo is ‘too fast’ (haven’t confirmed if this is objective or falls under ‘noodly’ clause).

Would it be worth noting errors in RB3 on-disc songs? I assume those are beyond the ability of the usual RBHP methods to fix.

It’s always worth noting it. Whether it’ll work or not is up in the air.

Metadata is a no, for sure. Replacement parts might work.

Would this include redoing guitar charts for pre-RB3 songs that have had keys charted as a part of this project? Thinking of songs like Highway Star by Deep Purple where the guitar chart follows the keys quite a bit. Hope that made sense.

Those are things I would include as variants more than fixes, but, yes, if submitted (and peer tested/reviewed, since I don’t foresee having time to review submissions/variants of that scope for the near future), I would consider releasing it whenever I release score-impacting variants (i.e. now for Wii, eventually for other platforms).

            Awesome! Thread’s up

I also should mention Bodhisattva by Steely Dan (RB2) is an absolute nightmare. That one part with the double note chords being all hammer-ons WITH consecutive note hammer-ons… yeah that part haha.

Also, Caprici Di Diablo by Yngwie Malmsteen (DLC) is undercharted as hell in my opinion (even as hard as it is but it is Malmsteen after all).

Even though RBN songs aren’t really being looked at.. (so pretty much a rhetorical question ) what’s up with Evile’s songs being overcharted?

Okay, here’s an RB3 on-disc issue, concerning pro keys in “Last Dance”. Reference video

              .

In the second half of the first verse, starting with the line, “And every time you overdose,” (

in the video) the song’s actual chords are Db, Eb, Db, Eb, but the keyboard chart has you playing arpeggios of Ab, Db, Db, Eb. The chart is wrong for two measures, and then is correct again starting with the “repeated” Db arpeggio.

The same thing happens in the second verse, starting with the same line (

              in the video).

I believe the fixes would not impact scoring.

              Another minor one:

Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart misspelled lyric “bnd” instead of and
