December 7, 2019 at 4:19 am #508167Well here it is, the granddaddy of CHVRCHES songs.
Shouldn’t it be the “mother” of all CHVRCHES songs? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” /> ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” /> Nice releases!

December 7, 2019 at 11:56 am #508171The 1980 cover of “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin'” by Hall & Oates included a stripped down, sparse arrangement contrasting with the lavish Righteous Brothers original. On the final evening of recording their ninth album “Voices”, they came across the original on a jukebox while at dinner and they decided to cover it. Cut in a period of four hours, it later peaked at number 12 on Billboard, their highest charting single since “Rich Girl” in 1977 (then followed quickly by “Kiss on My List” and “You Make My Dreams”). “Lovin’ Feelin'” became a traditional encore number for the band throughout the 80’s.

December 7, 2019 at 7:57 pm #508179Pixies “On Graveyard Hill”
First single from the band’s seventh album, Beneath the Eyrie, the song is loosely based on the origin of the witch Belladonna, a dark and malevolent creature who poisons the narrator with a potion made from the poisonous plant.

And also Prez thanks for the Pixies song!
December 8, 2019 at 12:00 pm #508194Well, here we are, from one Television to another.
This is my 300th custom. That’s 4 years of my life spent with you guys and I hope this is enough of a thank you for all the times.
Please watch the trailer here.
Marquee Moon is a huge Punk classic, as the genre implies. I would have gone with a single version but it would not be big enough to celebrate such an amount of customs, so I went with the actual 10 minutes long album version. Needless to say this took a while.
Authored by yours truly.

Next up is BornGamerRob, who will deliver three blasts from the past by classic artists.
December 8, 2019 at 12:01 pm #508195NEED to play this on drums.
December 8, 2019 at 2:09 pm #508198This is just insane, really. I don’t know how known “Marquee Moon” is – it’s considered an indie rock classic by now and I’ve seen it getting high praise in many places, but it’s probably not that known to the mainstream.
Nevertheless, this is a huge song, pretty much a masterpiece, and it fits the RB format perfectly. Can’t wait to play! Thanks sheep!
And by the way, is there a full video preview somewhere or just the snippet in the trailer?

I would post the full previews but you know how YouTube is with copyrights…
December 8, 2019 at 7:59 pm #508205It’s time to step into the time machine and shuttle back seven decades to the time when rock ‘n roll was being defined by bands and artists like Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and others. A style of music that would be built upon for decades to come and elements still present in music today.
Let’s start with…
Buddy Holly – Oh Boy!
DOWNLOAD LINK | VIDEO PREVIEWRanked 13th out of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, Buddy Holly was taken from this earth and rock-and-roll far too early. Considering his short two-year career in rock, the accomplishments of this artist are unbelievable including being one of the first to act in singer-songwriter fashion, first to inspire the traditional rock-and-roll lineup of two guitars, bass and drums, and making horn-rimmed glasses chic. Although Buddy Holly had only one #1 hit song (That’ll Be The Day), Oh Boy! is still a memorable track from Holly and yours to play today.
moving on to…
Lesley Gore – You Don’t Own Me
DOWNLOAD LINK | VIDEO PREVIEWLesley Gore’s original has been covered in every decade since its release in 1963 by names like Dusty Springfield, Joan Jett, The Blow Monkeys and most recently Kristin Chenoweth and Ariana Grande. It’s no surprise as it’s a definitive proclamation of a woman’s independence. And as many as have been released or will be released, none will compare with the emotional narrative that Gore brought to this original.
and lastly…
Jimmy Gilmer & The Fireballs – Sugar Shack
DOWNLOAD LINK | VIDEO PREVIEWLong before there was a Love Shack, there was a Sugar Shack. Quite a bit different in meaning than the former, Sugar Shack tells a love-at-first-site story, which is the real reason for visiting the shack (with the former being more about an all-day party for everyone). This song is unfairly credited for killing this type of music as it was the last to chart #1 before the Beatles took over music in America. What’s unique about this one is the Hammond Solovox instrument that is played that emulates whistling, aptly translated to the keys.
If these songs make you start dancing to the oldies again, why not log it as part of your tally of songs from this event and consider giving at least the $10 minimum at chartathon.com.
Song Count: 108
UP NEXT! nsw1-6 & BatRamps team up to give you a stellar release from a band who either really loves chalkboards or outright despises them.
