Can’t get toms to show up in Reaper

Hey everyone. I’m a newbie to Reaper, currently trying to chart All That I’ve Got by The Used. It was coming along well until I got to the first tom hit on drums, I add the green tom but nothing shows up in the FX preview window. Anyone know what I’m missing here? Thanks!
Could be a few things but lets try the basics – toms are represented twice – once in the chart itself and once above
