A C3X WORLD TOUR SPECIAL EVENT
      GENESIS CHRONICLES FOURTH ANNIVERSARY +
(We take you to The Lyceum Theatre in London, UK)
I’ve been stumbling and fumbling around with this one in preperation, but here it is! To start off this week we have a celebration of one of the original C3 projects, Genesis Chronicles! Over the past three years AJFOne23 and I have been slowly picking away at the remaining good tracks in the band’s discography, filling all the little holes. To spice things up this year, we’ve decided to add in a few tracks from the band members solo careers, culminating in a set of 4 new releases this time around.

Hearkening back to some of Genesis’ “ripped from the headlines” songs in the Gabriel-era, Hackett and Collins contribute this piece about current events but in the form of television. The events described focus on the fantastical things that can be seen from the comfort of your living room. However, such events and repetitiveness lead the narrator to disgust rather than interest. Every verse and chorus contains subtle references ranging from current year (Death of Chairman Mao and Margret Thatcher’s earliest rise to prominence) to entertainment (Batman, Errol Flynn). Interestingly, Tarzan is mentioned somewhere in verse 3, and we know where that would lead two decades later. />_>” title=”>_>” class=”bbcode_smiley” /></div>

Steve Hackett’s first album focused around the signs provided on Tarot cards and named every song on the album after one. This ripping opening track, Ace of Wands, displays Hackett’s ability of sectional song writing outside of working with Genesis. Here and throughout the album he is joined by fellow bandmates Collins and Rutherford providing incredibly solid backing to the music. Even being the first track of Hackett’s first album, it is still one of his musical hallmarks to this day.

This track stayed in Gabriel’s live repertoire up into 1983, while most of the album was never really played again after his tour for the album.
And as a special bonus we have a contribution from TheSheepQueen including a snippet!

Games Without Frontiers is probably one of the most well thought Peter Gabriel songs. Wars and politics as childs play, simple as that, but efficient. The hook features vocals from Kate Bush, repeating “Jeux Sans Frontières”, a reference to the European TV show of the same name, that inspired the song: A fun, harmless competition between countries. The song is pretty easy overall but guarantees some quality nostalgia and party fun!
      Enjoy!
**** I’m tired, I’ll keep the good times rollin’ again soon!

To my knowledge, other members are working on that one.

Talking with my collaborators, it seems full-band instrument work on Genesis (minus a few songs) is solely under my belt at this point. I do want to finish the rest of Trespass at soon (currently working on “Dusk” and “Looking for Someone”) and a few more late 70s tracks.

            HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Well I used to be a huge prog-head when I was about 16-17 and I absolutely loved that album. I kinda turned away from prog and I barely listen to it anymore, but this is one of the albums (“Selling England” is another one) I still really like. Even if I don’t really listen to it often nowadays.
