The never-ending pursuit of perfection that is TrojanNemo.
June 24, 2016 at 3:40 pm #470865And, thank you. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
June 26, 2016 at 6:15 pm #471034In the visualizer I accidentally clicked on the “expert-only” button and it popped up on the song image window and clicking on it in the window won’t remove it.
Any idea what the issue is? Thanks in advance.
June 26, 2016 at 6:19 pm #471035What you do in Visualizer is only temporary to that instance. You can double click to remove it from the display window, or just close visualizer and open again. If the icon is showing up after that it’s because your song is expert only in the MIDI or marked as expert only in Magma.
June 26, 2016 at 6:36 pm #471038It seems to be doing that for all icons, not just the expert-only. I don’t have it marked as expert-only in the MIDI but because the amount of bass and keys notes were the same for expert and hard it auto-added an expert-only button on there that I cannot remove. Closing it works but in that case I can only input the data manually since each time I open the song data it’ll just place that expert-only icon on it.
It’s not a big deal, I don’t mind putting it all in manually, I’m just confused why it isn’t working for me. It has in the past so I’m not sure what changed.
June 26, 2016 at 6:46 pm #471040Right, I see what you mean. That’s a bug. Easier than doing it manually, extract the DTA and png_xbox from the CON and throw them at the program. Will be fixed whenever I get around to another update.
June 26, 2016 at 6:47 pm #471041Will do, thank you.
July 3, 2016 at 11:35 pm #471510The CON tools open in adobe reader and don’t work and I don’t know why or how to fix it
Nvm I’m just an idiot it works now
July 4, 2016 at 12:08 am #471512If you don’t know why an .exe file is opening in Adobe Reader, you have bigger problems than I can help you with. Sorry.
July 4, 2016 at 3:59 am #471526July 4, 2016 at 4:45 am #471528Here’s an update brought to you by my own needs with the software. I had a chance (or obligation) to update the pub Xbox and would you believe how much I had to use these tools when re-doing the entire 2950 song setlist. I also updated the Event Manager for use at the pub, so lots of changes there for my use.
I’m thinking I’ll be around a bit more for updates and fixes if requested, as I quite enjoyed working on this. But I’m not committing to any large/complex feature requests, sorry.
SETLIST MANAGER
– Make corrections to how items are sorted to match exactly (in theory) how they’re sorted in game
– Added ability to search for songs with possible file path conflicts
– Added ability to search for songs with possible short name conflicts
– Added ability to search for songs with possible song ID conflicts
– Exporting to Excel or CSV using the ‘Everything’ option now includes the song’s short name
– Added small label that shows you how many songs you have selected at any given point (was useful to me)
– Other minor behavior improvements
EVENT MANAGER
– Added Auto-queue feature so Event Manager can automatically add the same band who performed to the end of the queue for automatic rotation
– Added ability to add to queue only with a band name, without needing to specify song and artist name
– Added ability to view Setlist details just like in Setlist Manager
– Added ability to enable/disable the auto-suggestion text
– Added ability to edit the auto-suggestion text for bands, songs and artists (ported the code from the old stand-alone Event Manager)
– Can now double-click on the list of songs from the Setlist (if one is loaded) to view song details
– Can now double-click on the list of previous performances to view performance details
– Can now pin/unpin Event Manager to always be on top like with most other tools in C3 CON Tools
– Changed behavior to make it so only way to close down is by clicking on Exit -> Save and Exit – no more ‘accidentally’ clicking on close button, Alt + F4, etc
– Other minor behavior improvements
VISUALIZER
– Fixed bug that prevented you from hiding icons once assigned – right-click the icon for option to remove
– Fixed behavior so when moving an icon from left to right, or right to left, the other icon is moved to the other spot, rather than old behavior that deleted the other icon
– Fixed bug where songs dePACKed with C3 CON Tools would label the author as Rock Band Network
By the way, when updating Event Manager I realized just how tailored to me and my way of doing things that program is. Sorry, you’re getting that because it’s all I can think of. But it made me wonder, just how different would it be of one of you created it instead? Which led to more questions: why is no one else creating tools and programs for this game? Why did almost nobody else get into this side of the customs “scene”? I was so excited when the Voxinator guy came around, started working on something new and exciting, then he gave up and disappeared I would love to see others work on new and exciting tools and programs we could all use. I’ve put out so much, I’m pretty much out of ideas. But I’m sure we got some talented and capable minds in here. Don’t be afraid to try your hand at creating new stuff…please!
July 4, 2016 at 6:11 am #471530I’ve actually been wanting to pop the hood of CAT and see how it runs. I’m currently learning programming as part of my college degree including Python. Unfortunately I’m not terribly creative at coming up with helpful tools. The best I can think of is a preview for vocals but I couldn’t even begin to think of how to program that.
I will consider and experiment though. I’d love to give back to the community with helpful tools since I’m actually learning this stuff. Plus it might look good on a resume, you never know. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
Thanks for the update!
July 4, 2016 at 9:54 am #471532Thanks for the recent updates. There are a few requests I made, that I’m hoping will get added/fixed.
- Finding duplicates using the indexer. I appreciate it being added to setlist manager, but i’d like to know i have potential duplicates before they are in the game (ie reading cache file in setlist manager). This would be usable except for issue 2 on my list, which prevents me from dropping all my songs on setlist manager. Can the code be reused in the indexer ?
- Removal of the drag n drop “1 of 1” prompt for multiple files dropped on setlist manager.
- Batch search for songs with unpitched vocals.
quotes below, to refresh your memory, so you don’t have to search back through the post.
lastly, I’ve tried using event manager, i like it, but the one thing that is annoying is. After you enter a band name, select a song, then add it to the queue. The band name textbox is cleared. if someone wants to add multiple songs for “their band” they have to keep entering the band name for each song. it would be better if the band text box was a text drop down combobox, then you could quickly select your band, and only clear the song/artist fields when adding to the queue. Using a combobox for band also allows you to see which bands are in the list (for editing).
Well yeah, it can be added as a batch function to Song Analyzer like it does now for finding specific lyrics in songs or for finding songs without pro drum markers, but it’s never going to be part of Setlist Manager since that information is simply not available except in the MIDI file. Like you said, if I get more requests for it I’ll implement it.
Hi, I like the new additions in v3.9.5
Now in v3.9.5 when dropping multiple con files on setlist manager, I get an OK dialog prompt “..adding 1 of 1 song” and have to click OK repeatedly for however many files I dropped at once. I didn’t do this in v3.9.4
Also, has there been any interest/requests for adding the pitched/unpitched vocals search as a batch function to Song Analyzer?
I’m seeing a lot of people posting songs to the database without using their own author id, so I end up with lots of duplicate song id’s that don’t show up in game. Could you add a feature to the file indexer, to show duplicate songs based on ID.
July 4, 2016 at 1:10 pm #471534Thanks for sticking with this, Nemo, your work is terribly underrated. I know nothing about programming, so the programs and scripts you and Farottone have brought us are like magic to my Neanderthal mind. Many thanks to you both (and the unnamed others) for making the creation and management of customs so much easier for the rest of us.
July 4, 2016 at 3:05 pm #471535Hey Nemo!
In my eyes, you have been a Godsend to this community. If not for your contributions, I wouldn’t even be playing customs – let alone authoring them. I don’t know how you find time to keep up with it all and I can certainly understand why you would be looking to share the load. At one time, I was a passable FORTRAN programmer. Needless to say, it has been a looooong time since I have done any serious coding. I suspect there is some younger blood out there that is better equipped to answer this particular call
You also mentioned being out of ideas. I do have a possible idea for either you or that younger blood…
So it’s fairly common to use MIDI songs as the starting point for RB3 custom charts. One of the most time-intensive parts of this process is pulling together the guitar chart. Most MIDI songs have four or five guitar tracks (acoustic, electric, distortion, solo, etc.). In each of these tracks, a single guitar note/chord can be made up of five individual “midi notes” that are spread across dozens of lines. How about a custom Reaper action that could take these MIDI guitar tracks and reduce them using the guitar/bass chord theory from the RBN documentation? Essentially, you input a MIDI guitar track and end up with a RB guitar chart.
If the RBN chord theory is too subjective to program, how about a simpler version that uses mean/average values to reduce the MIDI chords down to a single note and then uses the relative position of each note to compress the entire song into the five expert lines in an RB chart?
As with CAT auto reductions, this wouldn’t be a final, finished guitar chart, but I could see this rough draft saving hours of time on every song.
