So bit of a problem.
I already had a previous version of “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” in a previous pack, so I used the Quick pack Editor in LeFluffie to remove it. However, now RB3 locks up when it tries to load from that file. I deleted the cache and tried rebuilding to see if that was part of the problem, but the game locks up during the process, presumably when it reaches this file.
Any idea what’s happened there?
Edit: Manually editing the pack – i.e., extracting the pack, deleting the song, editing the DTA and then recompiling – apparently worked. Two other songs went missing in the process, mind, but I can easily track those down and reup them.
Edit II: Ah, never mind. The two missing songs are “Dani California” and “Black Hole Sun”, because the cache was recompiled in my TU4 environment, no TU5. Ignore me. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
December 7, 2013 at 5:50 pm #410334How big is the pack? I’d need to see it to see why it’s failing in the process. The fact that it locks up in game means something went wrong in the process, most likely to do with the songs.dta file since that’s the “new” feature here.
If it’s too big, send me the DTA file from before editing in Quick Pack Editor and from after editing in Quick Pack Editor so I can try to track down where the problem is happening.
December 8, 2013 at 12:51 am #410354It was 31 songs.
Of note, whenever I put a pack together in LeFluffie Windows puts a little lock symbol on the icon, but when I remove a song using the Quick Editor the lock is gone. No idea if that makes a difference.
I don’t have the original version of the pack anymore, but I can try and recreate the issue at my end if you don’t mind waiting until Tuesday (I’m supposed to have written the next PortsCenter by now as I’m shooting tomorrow, and I’m procrastinating too much as it is!).

No idea if that makes a difference.I’ve never heard of this. Since CON/LIVE files are extensionless Windows shouldn’t be putting any kind of icon on them. Then again, I’m on Windows 8, and I have long ago left Windows XP and never tried Windows Vista, so I don’t know if that’s something with either of those two OS.
I’ll give another look over the code and test some more on my end. As far as I can tell, it’s working as intended, but things always break when one rogue file is not formatted as the program expects and the only way to fix it is to figure out which file that is.
I’ll probably issue the long-standing update I have for Le Fluffie tonight and when/if you get that stuff to me next week i’ll consider another update then.

v2.4.3
ALBUM ART CONVERTER
- Added PS3 support! Can now convert to and from *.png_ps3 images
- Minor behavior changes to logging
MIDI CLEANER
- Fixed cleaning of incorrectly formatted lyrics, now it detects all instances and fixes them correctly
- Added check to existing BEAT track for back-to-back downbeats
- Modified code to ensure creation of BEAT track does not generate back-to-back downbeats
- Added check for 1/x time signatures ... since these are so rare, user will be notified as a warning of a possible mistake in the tempo map
- Expanded persistent options to include whether to override note velocities, the note velocity value, whether to correct notes that are too short, and what size to change them to
VISUALIZER
- Added support for PS3 (*.png_ps3) images for album art
- Changed behavior when reading the MIDI file to estimate if the file is Expert-Only. If the program determines it most likely is Expert-Only, you'll be shown why it thinks so and you can choose whether to mark is as Expert-Only or not. Songs marked as Expert-Only through Magma: C3 Roks Edition will continue to behave as they have in the past.
- Changed location of difficulty tier form to be centered on Visualizer's location rather than centered on the screen
- Fixed bug that would require pressing on Harmony image twice to change from one-part harmony to two-part harmony
GENERAL
- Improved tracking of which forms are currently open
- Improvements to code efficiency
December 9, 2013 at 11:16 pm #410432Can LeFluffie “unpack” a pack and create let’s say 15 separate songs from a 15-song package? I did not find this option so I’m asking here.
I’m turning my official content/DLC into CONs and my purpose would be to unpack every pack, add pro G/B to each song that needs it and then pack again as I want. For example, I have the official pack with all Green Day songs but I’d like to upgrade some songs of this pack with their pro-upgrades I found on a topic on C3 forum. Of course, I can just put somewhere the pro-upgrade and it’ll work but if possible I’d like to have only one file for a song.
But well, I can’t upgrade songs with their RBHP new version if there is no proG/B in it so I might end up having pro G/B files in a special folder if unpacking is impossible.
Thanks for your suggestions.
December 9, 2013 at 11:32 pm #410433There is no such feature built into Le Fluffie. You can arrive at what you want in a couple of ways, and both will take considerable amounts of time.
You can use the Quick Pack Editor, select all songs but one, change the name and description of the “pack” to match that of the single song that you’re now leaving in there, and save. This creates a “pack” of only one song, and deals with separating the DTA entries and removing unused pack files for you. You can imagine this takes a while. But it is mostly point and click, should be fool proof.
The other way would be to open the pack in Song Explorer, extract all. Now you have a folder for each song. Open the songs.dta file, and cut/paste each song’s entry into its own songs_songname.dta file. Once you got that done, open Song Packager, drag and drop the song’s folder to the left panel. Click on “songs” on the left, then drag and drop the songs_songname.dta file to the right panel. Right click and rename that to just songs.dta. Enter title and description if you want. Press Create Package. This is more work on your part, and requires that you are familiar with how a STFS package should be structured and that you know how to separate DTA entries. If you can do all that, this may be a little bit faster than the first option.
Sorry there’s no easier way.
December 10, 2013 at 6:42 am #410441Jeez, the more I think about that…it seems like an awful lot of work. If only there was someone around with the knowledge and mad skillz to turn all that into a one-click thing?
December 10, 2013 at 6:33 pm #410458Jeez, the more I think about that…it seems like an awful lot of work. If only there was someone around with the knowledge and mad skillz to turn all that into a one-click thing? You mean add the option to undo a pack and have its contents as singles?
The only drawback I see is the 12-minute cache load time, but it’s worth it, supposing there’s a song the user doesn’t really enjoy (maybe a song that reminds you of your ex). The user could just remove one song, rather than jeopardize an entire pack. But if that’s the case, then it just sounds like we’re just trying to emulate TU5’s option to hide 1-lighter songs.
HMX, after heeding to our hate mail request, brought us TU5, with the option to hide 1-lighter songs, among other things. But TU5 also made it impossible for the game to read cons (which is why we use TU4). Is it something in the CON’s coding that makes them undetectable under TU5? Do we have a guy in his basement working diligently on a new CON format that can be read under TU5?
I know it’s far easier said than done, and I’m deeply grateful that I can play customs thanks to everyone’s hard work and countless hours in front of a computer screen. But…y’know… has anyone tackled the issue?

December 10, 2013 at 7:21 pm #410460You mean add the option to undo a pack and have its contents as singles?Yes, that’s what was asked a couple of posts above.
The only drawback I see is the 12-minute cache load time, but it’s worth it, supposing there’s a song the user doesn’t really enjoy (maybe a song that reminds you of your ex). What you’re describing can already be done with Quick Pack Editor (i.e. remove a song or two from a pack). The use for this was also described above.
Is it something in the CON’s coding that makes them undetectable under TU5? Do we have a guy in his basement working diligently on a new CON format that can be read under TU5?We already know exactly why and how TU5 blocks customs (not just CONs, RB1 songs export as CONs) and we also know how to get customs to work on TU5. The solution is extremely tedious and results in you losing the tempo map of your custom. Everything is synced to the audio but nothing is on grid, which is very annoying. So nobody deemed it worthwhile to have to re-do every single custom and go through the process to end up with arguably unplayable tracks just to play them online (with who?).
But…y’know… has anyone tackled the issue?26 months after TU5 came out…I would have guessed ‘yes’ … but to be clear, ‘yes’.
Maybe we need to send some more hate mail requests to HMX to issue TU6 and allow customs again. But considering it would cost them $25,000 just to issue the update, plus developing costs, AND the main reason for TU5 was expressly to block customs (the other stuff was to hide that fact, by the way), I don’t think it’ll happen ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

I should have added “and without having to delete the song cache,” but I get the main point you got across.
I appreciate the feedback on the TU5 customs issue. I still have hopes that one day, children from all nations will play customs under TU5, without any issues.
December 10, 2013 at 9:54 pm #410464We can only hope that’s the case. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
