This thread will be for posting alternate versions of songs already posted in the C3 database, in the cases of the authors feeling another odd or quirky version is needed or fun to have but don’t want to clutter the database with it. This can include but is not limited to misheard lyrics versions, Guitar Hero style cross instrument charting versions, no BRE lanes versions and other such silly nonsense that is just plain fun and/or goofy.
If you plan to make a alternate version of a chart you didn’t originally create yourself, please ask the original author for permission before you do so.

Alternate charts, not as easily.

You’re right. And I’ve successfully edited a number of them. For some reason though, some of the songs seem to resist being edited. This past weekend, I borrowed a PC to use C3 Tools (I have a Mac, so can’t generally use the editor) and changed a bunch of album names and artist tags. Unfortunately, fewer than half of the changes “stuck.” Even after rebuilding the cache. It was perplexing, to say the least.
March 20, 2014 at 6:46 am #415825If you’re trying to edit DLC songs from before RB3, it won’t work because the game has DTA info on all of them and it reads off that. Same thing for album images. You’d have to change the song id, but then you’d lose access to those songs pro drum upgrades.

You’d have to change the song id, but then you’d lose access to those songs pro drum upgrades. So, the dta tags inside the RB3 disc take precedence over the song’s dta? Would this still happen if I, for example, bundled a pro upgrade with the song?
EDIT: Also, it is possible to edit the artist/song/album of the RB3 songs? Killing Loneliness bothers me a lot…

Then good to go… I don’t mind the song counting as a custom instead of a DLC.
Though I only did this with one song being Avenged Sevenfold’s Nightmare. Only did it to use a new song file so it isn’t censored.

That was fixed with RBHP i think… or at least, it was fixed with the 3 DLC songs, so they all come under the same name
March 20, 2014 at 10:49 pm #415891Impossible to edit RB3 songs, but you can edit the previous HIM pack songs to match the song on disc. I think band renaming is fine, but album name and art changing won’t stick as long as it’s that exact song to the game (song ID). I changed alot of album names and art for my personal packs and sometimes it’s tricky getting it to work.
April 27, 2014 at 8:36 pm #418985Can someone make these alternative versions?
Dethklok – Deththeme/Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle
Individual songs, I love Dethklok and I would like to have each song for separated
Buckethead – Jordan
Keys in Bass like Guitar Hero 2
Thanks

August 2, 2014 at 12:02 pm #426137Multitrack version of Rollin’ by Limp Bizkit (V2, much better balancing – much better sound). Credit to the original authors for the chart. The multitrack was created by me:

April 3, 2015 at 2:05 pm #441971If you watched this week’s preview video and saw the drum chart for “The Last Baron”, you may have thought “Wow, those snare ghost notes are really fast. I don’t know if I can handle playing that.” Well, you’re in luck, because those ghosts were taken out in the final version of the song. However, if you’re a challenge seeker or like playing all the ghost notes fully charted out, then there’s an alternate version for you. This affects the Guitar Lead sections and the outro as the ghosts there made it significantly more challenging, other sections were not changed and are fully charted in both versions.
April 3, 2015 at 5:35 pm #441990The best edit I ever made to official DLC was removing the terrible trill lanes from Skynyrd’s Tuesday’s Gone. Instantly became a super fun guitar chart that isn’t frustrating because of the dumb trill lanes system that was used poorly and too often early on.
