Yeah obviously haha, I meant is there a similar tool for drums…
Again, drums don’t need to simplified by color, only by density, and for that there’s the Automatic reduction for drums superset.
October 18, 2017 at 4:34 am #491638Not necessary. Any MIDI or audio file with weird characters in the name will cause Reaper grief. Incidentally it’s not a CAT or Python thing, it’s how Reaper is bad at handling file names (including folders in which the file is located)
Cripes, I just realized the reason why my CATtools were failing recently was because my folder names were somehow changed to using the long “–” (dash) symbol rather than the short “-” (minus) one. Changing it back to the minus finally allowed CAT to load and execute properly.

You need to read the section that explains how to use CAT.

September 13, 2018 at 1:32 pm #500761Having trouble getting Reaper to detect Python. Any idea if it’s just incompatible versions or what? I’m using Reaper 5.941 and Python 2.7.2 and I’ve never used Python before, so not sure if I’m just missing something obvious with that.
September 13, 2018 at 3:48 pm #500763Be sure to use both 32bit versions. Also, use REAPER 4.22 as recommended for RB3.
May 3, 2019 at 1:45 am #504809Hey guys, I’m an aspiring new author. I thought I’d give CAT a try, but when I use it nothing happens. I’ve gone through the check list and as far as I can tell I’m running the right versions of Reaper, python ect. The CAT menu loads fine and I can press any one of the function buttons, but when the CAT window disappears nothing changes. I believe I have an end event in the right place, just cant get any result…
Here is my .RPP file…
Thanks
May 3, 2019 at 4:50 am #504810Hey Monk
Not sure what the problem was, I noticed nothing unusual, but I also couldn’t get CAT to work on your project file
What I did was make a midi out of the tracks you have done and ran the midi through the handy C3 CON tools midi cleaner.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/j3dxh6bht3g9n35/Andalucia_new_tempo_map_clean.mid/file
opened a new project in Reaper.
Inserted the cleaned midi & dragged your individual instrument tracks to corresponding instrument.
CAT then worked no problem.
