Wow, this sounds amazing. As I’m working on my first custom, I now realize how much of a grind reductions are, let alone how to do event animations (was going to cross that bridge when I came to it).
This will help me no end, cheers Farottone
March 24, 2014 at 11:03 pm #416188Cant wait to give this tool a try especially for creating EMH charts. Now what we need is a tool that can auto tempo map a song.
March 25, 2014 at 4:38 am #416233I’m having all the trouble getting this to work. I’ve already New/Loaded all the scripts, but when I open the Automation Tools window, click on any of the boxes doesn’t seem to do anything at all. There’s nothing telling me anything is happening or not working and I don’t notice a change in the chart. And I don’t even get a menu to pop up with each box.
This one, for example, doesn’t allow me to do anything besides switch the options and check/uncheck boxes. What’s wrong here? I even tried running the reduce 5 lane directly from the Show Actions list, but I got this:
It’s really infuriating me right now. I didn’t think it would be so hard to figure out (despite my almost zero Reaper knowledge) how to tell it to do an EMH fix to a previous song, or to even add drummer animation. I followed the user manual to the T up to the point where it shows you how to add the scripts and hotkey them.
March 25, 2014 at 10:20 am #416237The first screenshot shows you have no instrument in your project: are you sure you’re using a proper template?
Did you use the C3 template to create your project? If not, CAT may failThe second screenshot shows, apparently, that you have no markers in the EVENTS track
These commands work better if you have an end event set in the EVENTS track and the end event is in the proper place. In theory it shouldn’t fail with no [end] event, so I’m guessing the EVENTS track is maybe missing.
When something doesn’t work for you, please open a bug tracker ticket but…
Before posting or reporting a bug, check the following common issues:Check those issues because individual command failings can happen, system wide are usually tied to malformed projects.
March 25, 2014 at 5:24 pm #416253I’ll try again later with some other songs, but one of the ones I tried using was a Harmonix song with a Harmonies Project keys chart, I wanted to give it keys animations. I figured this would have been the easiest one to try first since we know everything else is there.
March 25, 2014 at 5:25 pm #416254We might want to change “you should have an [end] event” to “you must have an [end] event”, since several of the 5-lane reduction tasks failed silently for me before I added an [end].

March 25, 2014 at 6:03 pm #416259I don’t even know what most of that means. I’m guessing this process assumes you have even some Reaper charting knowledge? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
I gave it another try by loading the custom template, then inserting the media and the functions seem to work, although again, no confirmation that it’s doing anything. I’ll hit reduce and the menu simply minimizes and unchecks everything. Not sure if this was supposed to happen, I saved it but the song crashes when I try to play it. Visualizer seem to think it was fine since it didn’t tell me any difficulties were missing.

I’m guessing this process assumes you have even some Reaper charting knowledge? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif”>Who is it for? This is for any author of Rock Band custom songs, regardless of their degree of commitment to their songs.
So, yes, this is for people who know how to author, even just single instrument songs. As I said, the only way I can check what’s wrong is for you to upload the Reaper project to our bug tracker system and a short description of what doesn’t work for you.
March 25, 2014 at 6:33 pm #416264Just to be clear, when you say “the C3 Template”, is it the “Custom RB3 Template” when using Reaper? What I know to do it open Reaper, load that template, then Insert New Media Item. After I load the midi, I run the CAT and try to do the Automatic Animations. After I hit Create Animations, it minimizes and nothing else happens. I have to close it just to open the CAT menu again.
I’m submitting a report but I don’t know if I have everything set up properly of if I’m doing any of this right.
Aaand I can’t even submit a bug report.

Just to be sure, ZIP or RAR the Reaper project file, it may have to do with that.
March 25, 2014 at 7:09 pm #416270I think I might just disable attachments for Mantis and make people use Mediafire or whatever. Mantis is terrible.
edit: This is now done.
March 25, 2014 at 7:17 pm #416273Something else I forgot it I always get this when I load the Custom RB3 template. It’s probably contributing to this mess, right? I always just ignored it since it always happened.
I managed to upload a project with Mantis, so hopefully we’ll all be laughing about how stupid of an error I’m making and can correct it easily.
Looks like I accidentally reported 3 times. I can’t seem to find a way to delete the other reports, so I guess ignore the ones that don’t have a file uploaded with it.
March 25, 2014 at 7:25 pm #416275That’s not a proper project, almost all MIDI tracks are doubled, one on top of the other. CAT is the least of the issues, you can’t compile it probably and you can’t surely play it. If you need help on creating a proper project, open a thread for Authoring support.
