Hi my name is Buster66 and I have whatever addiction we all seem to have here.

Up front I want to memorialize my thanks to grubextrapolate, Atruejedi and FUGGNUTZ for tons of feedback and advice on my first batch of songs. Most of these were started last summer when I had no idea what I was doing, but with their regular encouragement and positive vibes I finally got over the hump to get them released. They might not be perfect but at least they are finally out the door.

    Released for Canada Day 2019:

The Tea Party makes its first entry to the customs database with two songs from their 1999 album Triptych. The Halcyon Days is my favorite TP song of all time, which is why it was the second custom I ever tried to make. There are time signature changes which in retrospect aren’t that complex but perhaps not a great idea to have for baby’s first custom. It took a year of fiddling to get it to the state it is in now. FUGGNUTZ helped review the drums for this song.

Heaven Coming Down by contrast only took a few weeks, which is likely still long by most standards but to me represents hope for getting better at this process. If you’re going to hear Tea Party on the radio (ie. if you are a dinosaur like me that still listens to the radio), this will be one of the songs you will hear as it is one of their more pop-like songs.

Tangerine and Creature are my two favorite songs from Moist’s second album Creature. grubextrapolate intervened at just the right time to rescue my tempo map for Tangerine and basically improve my entire authoring process from start to finish. Atruejedi reviewed the vocals.

Last but not least, another 90s Canadian rock band, Wide Mouth Mason, is making its debut in the database. Midnight Rain is technically the first custom song I ever did, though I sat on it for a long time (like a year) and it’s a good thing since after all the help the other authors gave me I could see there was still room for improvement. The drums are not terribly exciting, which is why I started with this song, but it is up-tempo and the guitar is fun. The lead singer and guitarist, Sean Verreault, is an under-rated guitar god and I would eventually like to see more WMM in the database.

‘Bout time you released some stuff. I can’t keep using your talents all for my own customs. Congrats, and I look forward to many more solo releases and collaborations!

Luba was a Canadian solo artist active in the 1980’s. Although not really known outside of Canada she consistently produced hit singles and remains one of the most successful female solo artists in Canadian music history. Much of her music sounds of that era but this song sets itself apart as a timeless classic. Think Total Eclipse of the Heart only good better. It’s a good song to sing, especially if you are, or have in your life, a woman who likes to belt them out with feeling.

Edwin was (and is again) the lead singer of Canada’s I Mother Earth. Hang Ten is from his first solo album, released in 1999. This song is hard to describe, and while charting it I had forgotten what a gem it is. I love the lounge-lizard vibe interspersed with the high-energy chorus. It is ridiculously fun to play on all instruments.

Not sure why this song doesn’t get more love. Classic Journey.

Back from hiatus and trying to clear the old songs on my list so I can start doing new things. This is my favorite song from his 1993 solo album.

I’m betting not a lot of people will know this one, but I do and I thank you for it. “Oh Life” is also my favorite track on that album.
