Anyone else notice that Drown and another full band custom by BMTH disappeared from the database? Anyone know why?

        They’re part of RB4 library.

This isn’t anything new. As soon as a song is announced as official DLC it’s pulled from the database.

Shhh, dont expose that little flaw . Im sure though once the new database is in effect everything from DLC(4) will be deleted. Unfortunately some that I missed in the past got deleted, but oh well. Also add Brandy Youre a Fine Girl to that list of songs that havent been deleted haha.

We’re not doing this to be jerks, we want you to purchase the official version and support the game creators and artists with official DLC. It’s not that complicated <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

It actually is quite complicated if…

                  1) You don’t have the console and/or the desire for it

                  2) You don’t have the financial means and/or are unable to acquire such

                  3) There’s a difference between the custom and official release (99/100 times this is the case)

The third might be semi-negligible, the other two are not.

Anyway, sad to see more great work by gamers supporting gamers vanish, but it is what it is.

Off to find more hidden away gems and such. I’ve found a lot of nostalgia here…

The real problem is that I want to play pro keys on Africa by Toto but my USB stick died and now I lost it and since then it came to RB4 so I can’t get it!

Just being honest in this, but that makes no sense as an answer…just say that to do what you do, you can’t go against the makers of the games. That’s all that needs to be said and is more the reality.

Buying and supporting the new stuff (only available on the XBox One) doesn’t affect customs…that are only playable on the XBox 360. You need the XBox 360 AND TU4 to even play them, otherwise, it’s overridden. As far as I’ve seen, nowhere on here or anywhere has there been a way to do this on XB1. So they don’t really ever compete. With XB360 and TU4, you can’t get online, thus you can’t “support” the new stuff….and the new Harmonix stuff doesn’t work on the old game. Only works if you have Xb1 AND RB4 only. Surprised it’s never been worked out that as long as you aren’t putting out THEIR versions converted, all is good as if it’s RBN-like.

I’m confused by all that. One doesn’t overwrite the other because it’s not backward compatible. You should support Harmonix. If you want the new stuff, go get the new stuff. I get it about not having the cash flow to move forward; however, there’s lots of stuff that is unreachable for many but that shouldn’t automatically be a reason to duplicate it for yourself. That said, what you do on your own is all you; however, what is distributed online becomes a different story. If you have one instance of RB3 that plays online and one that doesn’t (which has been pointed out here many, many times), you can absolutely support the game by purchasing official (older) dlc.

It’s not just because of a desire not to “go against the makers of the games”, it’s also a mark of respect for those developers who have actually allowed the customs community to flourish as much as it has. Yes, officially customs are the result of unauthorized mods and therefore disallowed, but unofficially there has been communication between customs authors and the game’s developers, to the benefit of both. Out of that respect and to show continued support for the game’s developers, C3 asks that any songs which appear in RB4 be purchased and played in RB4.

And to put it simply: If we were to keep the RB4 DLC on the database, Harmonix would be very much allowed to close down the forum, and judging how much the admins, the authors and the players put into it (as far as I know hosting the customs on C3U costs actual real physical existing money), we don’t want to risk that.

I still have Drown on my PS3 and of course it being a part of the RB4 library, I’m not uploading the CON file. But that does beg the question, should people who have it within their consoles delete it?

I keep it, but I absolutely buy the DLC version. Most times, those two versions are different anyway. The main point here is, support the makers of the game that allow us to continue doing all this. Why overcomplicate the conversation.
