READ THE FORUM ANNOUNCEMENT FIRST IF YOU HAVEN’T YET! (link)
As mentioned in the announcement, we’re rolling out a second experiment with the rest of The Show Floor — the C3 Bounty Board. Basically, the bounty board is an attempt to catalog every famous “Rock-Band-compatible song” that has not yet been released for Rock Band. This is a big undertaking, and we need your help!
The definition of “famous” and “Rock Band compatible” changes from person to person, so only C3 admins will officially add things to the Board, but you can use this thread to suggest songs you think we’ve missed. Please structure your list of suggestions exactly like this:
Artist – Song Title
Artist 2 – Song Title 2
etc.
Be specific! Vague things like “more beatles” or “some of Michael Jackson’s big hits” will be removed (see below). As of this writing, the only row on the Bounty Board that is not a specific song/artist combo is Elvis Presley, and he’s a special case. For your suggestions to be considered, they must be a specific song, no exceptions.
Posts in this thread will be liberally edited and deleted to keep it easy to browse. You have been warned. If we accept your song, we will edit your post to say so. If we DON’T accept your song, we will edit your post to say so. Your post will become uneditable after we edit it. (Declined song listings will be kept in this thread so that other people can see what we have turned down. If enough people think we’ve unfairly declined a song, we’ll consider it, but don’t be a dick. Repeated whining about your song getting declined will get you kicked out of The Show Floor.)
Here are some rough guidelines for song acceptance. THESE ARE NOT HARD AND FAST RULES! Do not try to pull some bullshit loopholes. These are not here for quantitative comparisons, they are to get you in the right mindset.
- Remember, the two things that matter are song popularity and compatibility with Rock Band. All of the points after this are just refining those two concepts.
- A good Bounty Board song would not seem out of place in an early Harmonix DLC release.
- A good Bounty Board song appeals to people other than just hardcore RB/GH players.
- A song that gets lots of FM radio play in multiple countries is probably famous enough. (This is a very rough one. Don’t rely on this to instantly get your song accepted.)
- A song with millions and millions of hits on its YouTube music video is probably famous enough. (Same disclaimer.)
- Any song that was #1 on a Billboard chart, especially for multiple weeks, is probably famous enough. (Same disclaimer.)
- Popular singles by a band that has multiple songs in official Harmonix releases are probably famous enough (i.e. “the songs that Harmonix missed”).
- On the other hand, the average B-side / obscure song from a famous band is not famous enough for the Bounty Board. This includes huge bands like the Beatles.
- Most metal songs are not famous enough. Sorry. Enough of these will get released without the Bounty Board anyway.
- Any song that includes a lead guitar (an actual physical guitar), a bass guitar, a drum kit, and/or a singer is probably RB-compatible. Famous pop songs get a little bit of leeway here. (Notice the “and/or”; famous songs that are just, like, an acoustic guitar and a singer are fine.)
- Songs that are driven by multiple things that would all be mapped to Keys are usually not RB-compatible. Like the previous bullet, really famous pop songs get a little bit of leeway here. If the song would require something that doesn’t sound anything like a guitar being mapped to Guitar, it probably isn’t Bounty Board material.
Oh, and please keep each of your posts to 20 songs or so at a time so we can keep up. You can post more than once, but just…don’t go crazy, basically. We’ll get there.
With all of those disclaimers out of the way, go to town! We look forward to fleshing out the Bounty Board with your suggestions!
