What do i need to use to create customs on macs ?

I want to get into making customs but just don’t understand the process.

All the windows computers in my house a crap or dead. So i am a mac user and i don’t know what bits of software i can use to make customs on mac.

So any help to get me started will be greatly appreciated.

It’s the same software, Reaper. You need Magma to build, for that I suppose a Virtualbox with Windows in it would do, but I’ll leave it to other Mac authors to chime in.

I author on Mac normally so here’s my input. Yes you’ll need a Mac version of Reaper which you can get on their website. You can get the RBN plugins for Mac on the forums. Keep in mind, there is no pro drum preview in the Mac version of the RBN plugins. To actually build your song into Rock Band format after you are done charting the song in Reaper you need Magma C3 which is a Windows only program. You can solve this problem like Farottone said by getting a Virtualbox with Windows on it or what I do is I have Bootcamp installed on my Mac and a copy of Windows which allows me to use Windows on my Mac. If you are unable to get Windows, I would kindly ask some people here if they’d be willing to build your songs for you once they are ready to be built.

      Hope this helps.

It’s not “the best thing to use”, it’s what you NEED to do to compile your songs. And, no, there’s no Mac version, hence the suggestion to use Virtualbox, which is honestly pretty decent for this kind of things.

HMX created the original Magma, and that was only for Windows. I have done all the work on Magma: C3 and that’s staying in Windows since I have no experience with programming for Macs and I’m keeping the source code closed so nobody else can port it. Sorry.

Virtual environments might or might not work with Magma: C3. I can’t offer support for that either. If it does, great

ye i get that your not familiar with mac programming and you’ve done all the hard work in windows format and believe me when i say this I’m not diminishing your efforts in what you’ve created. It’s just windows is a pain in the arse. Everything with windows just dies. Every great bit of software i need and use is on mac the only reason i kept the old windows laptop (which is now dead) was to do the harmony upgrades which i now can’t do atm. Otherwise i wouldn’t dare use windows again the only reason I’m considering it is to create customs or i wouldn’t bother. I’ve never done boot camp on either of my macs yet and thats the only option because i don’t have another workable machine.

Edit: Nevermind, I’m going old-to-new and didn’t see you got help in the other thread.
