is there anyway to fool the game into giving achievements? or injecting outfits and instruments?

I’ve always wanted to get the Fox On The Run top. but there’s no way I’d ever be able to make completionist.

I have no experience on this but I suppose you would have to export the Rock Band 3 save file for your profile (while signed in) to a flash drive then on a PC edit the save file somehow with a hex editor and then just add in the data that someone with that achievement would have. Or the data might already be in there and you just have to change the data to say “true” instead of “false”.

edit: Just thinking and although I see no way to distinguish from fake or real achievements I suppose it’s something that is bannable. I’t probably a better idea to try and enable the in-game content you want instead of turning on achievements (if it’s possible) otherwise I would do this on a throw-away account that never logs into LIVE.

I’m fairly certain it’s doable. There is a tool that allows you to edit your save game file to create, delete, and edit the game characters and the game doesn’t reject the modified file. C3 CON Tools’ Save Game File Editor tool lets you edit the game art and replace with custom images and the game mostly accepts the edits (not always) so it’s simply a matter of figuring out how the achievements are stored in the save game file and modifying it.

I tried it very quickly once and gave up. But I’m sure someone with more patience can get it done.

Okay, I’ll look into it. I’d much rather unlock them through editing the ram, but at least a save file has the potential to work on Xbox.

Update: It is trivial to add it directly to your character through save editing without unlocking. Was there some other obstacle I wasn’t aware of?

define trivial… I’ve never done any save editing before.

did you use something like this program?

Need an account to download that, but now I’m curious to see what that tool could do and see if it matches what I came up with.

Basically, you can just write in the internal name of the item you want for that character. This doesn’t unlock it and if you unequip it, you’ll have to re-edit the save.

Don’t know if you’re allowed to do just that on the Xbox.

The tool that allows you to create and edit your characters takes care of writing things out to the save game file for you. Problem is you need those items unlocked, or they are invisible in game. So you can’t use the tool to give yourself items you don’t already have <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />

So you’re saying what I did shouldn’t be possible?
