LATEST UPDATE 9/4 Mastodon Monday – We Built This Come Death

We Built This Come Death starts off fast with strange weird guitars lines and one of the few instances of the blast beat on a Mastodon record. Then the vocals come in with a weird effect on them. I love the background voices on this one. A pretty short song, but great nonetheless.LATEST UPDATE 9/16 METAL MONTH UPDATE
Here’s a status update for this the most massive project I’ve been involved with at least in this short a time frame. In order to get everything done on time I’m going to forego anymore releases this month. I’m sure you’ll agree 70 songs in one month is worth the wait. I’ve been fortunate to enlist the services of many authors who are helping to make this a reality. I’ll have more info in the days leading up to October 1st.
Would love to see some more At the Gates. But I voted other. Because personally I would love to see some Pig Destroyer. They have a ton of great stuff

Not a big metal fan but looking forward to these releases. I am sure there will be some that catch my ear.
I’m glad you mentioned that. With 44 different bands there should be something for everyone but each week will include a few non metal songs with spooky themes for those who don’t crave the metal.
Throughout metal month there will be a number of themed packs as well as 3 full albums. All are considered classics in therer genre and in metal in genreal.

The Cardigans may be best remembered for their one and only worldwide hit “Lovefool” but their catalog is very rich. This song comes from the follow up album to that hit. The entire album is very dark and creepy. This is my preferred song to go insane to.

“Zombie Ritual” is easily the most recognizable track from the album, with its evil intro rhythm and flawless bloodflow of gory bludgeoning riffs, but there are many moments that glisten with with the sanguine discharge of its victims.

“Pull the Plug”, is such a killer track and it’s probably one of Death’s most popular anthems. This song is relatively easy, when speaking of its structure, arrangements and everything. But it’s so bloody effective, slower parts in it are absolutely fantastic, guitar leads are perfect and yet again the music is very memorable, you will remember its chorus or some of these killer riffs forever.

The album’s dark climax, “Diamond in the Witch House”, the most metallic song off the album and the one which houses the perennial guest vocals of Scott Kelly (Neurosis, Corrections House), proves to be a definite highlight. “Diamond in the Witch House’s” Neurosis-doom together with the lyrical imagery that has fed Mastodon’s past—fire, earth, water, air—coalesce to form an elemental ending.
