Birthdays today in rock: Keith Moon, Rick Springfield, Dean DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Julian Casablancas (The Strokes), and…one of the guys from LMFAO? Huh. I should really let Wikipedia write my blog posts for me.
Pop-punk is a genre woefully underrepresented in Rock Band, and…wait, what? You’re saying an entire Green Day game, 9 Offspring songs, and 14 blink-182 songs, not to mention Sum 41 and Lit, totally count as proper representation? Well, deal with it, because RyanHYK has a Simple Plan 3-pack RIGHT IN YOUR FACE! We’re so punk, you guys! Simple Plan has done a lot in their career: their debut album sold double platinum, they performed at the Winter Olympics, they solved a mystery with Scooby-Doo (look it up), but they’ve never been in Rock Band. All three of these songs are from that debut album, No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls. “Addicted” and “Perfect” may both ring a bell even if you’re not familiar with the band (the former letting teenagers all over the world sing “dick” and get away with it), and “I’d Do Anything” saw some chart time as well. Get your half-nasally voice on for some simple but sweet harmonies, and wait patiently in your torn-up leather jacket for some New Found Glory customs.
Orange Harrison keeps the Beatles train rolling, and you’ve got a ticket to r-…no, I won’t stoop that low. “Across the Universe” is a trademark of The Beatles’ sound from the end of their career. Orange Harrison has produced full multitrack stems for this, like his other Beatles songs, and has this to say:
This is the original “naked” version of Across The Universe, which is considered the “true” version since The Beatles denounced the symphonic mix that was produced after they broke up. Another major reason for using this version is that it’s the only version played back at the right speed, so it’s possible to make a (painstakingly hand-written) Pro Guitar chart.
ws54 brings another half-new artist to Rock Band. Paul Simon is possibly best known for being half of Simon & Garfunkel, but he’s an accomplished musician in his own right. “Father and Daughter” was composed specifically for The Wild Thornberrys Movie, but got a lot of attention outside of the soundtrack. SMASHING!
Finally, we’ve got three multitrack Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock conversions from TrojanNemo, all vaguely from the same swath of badass ’70s and ’80s hard rock. BOC’s “Burnin’ for You” is sorely absent from Rock Band — this version is a re-recording from 1993. Alice Cooper has plenty of awesome Rock Band hits, but possibly none as catchy as “No More Mr. Nice Guy”, which is also a re-record, this time specifically for GHWoR. Last up is Twisted Sister’s anthemic “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, which is arguably one of the most representative songs of the mid-1980s.
See you next Friday!

Excellent work, really impressive, waited anxiously week which songs would come this Friday and wait was well worth it! Congratulations guys! have no idea how much I appreciate the work of you!
Don’t worry, next stuff by me is going to have full instrumentation.
Is Across the Universe a complete multi track or was just the guitar separated? I ask because I just sang it with the vocals completely turned down in game, as I always do, and the original vocal track was not altered in any way.
Thanks
Can you give us a little tip what come to next friday? 🙂
Hint threads generally show up on the forum a few days ahead of release. 🙂
ohh thanks! its good to know! i’m Brazilian and actually a new comer here, i still have a lot things to learn

SIMPLE PLAN!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! for SIMPLE PLAN. they used to be huge… i love you C3
Looks like another great week. I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of Simple Plan before, but the previews look like they’re gonna be fun to drum along with. Thank you for all of the hard work.
Also, there is another “Burnin’ For You” floating around in customs-land that I’ve played. It seems to be the original 1981 recording – or are my aging ears deceiving me?
This is the only version around. I had released it a long time ago, but it wasn’t done correctly. Didn’t have all harmony parts, missing the keys, audio stems were not as refined as they are now, and to your point, the metadata was incorrectly. I went along assuming it was the original since this is the only version of the song I have ever heard. When doing the FtV for it someone pointed out it was a re-recording, so that’s why the discrepancy. Same goes for No More Mr. Nice Guy.
Thanks so much for Simple Plan and everything else!
