I’m having real trouble picking out what this great drummer is doing here; this is my most tricky drum-chart so far, I’ve only uploaded a few so far, but have about 10 more almost completed, but having trouble wrapping my brain around this part…I’ve slowed it in Reaper, etc…just want to double check my work..
If you can listen to this song…it’s the fill starting @ 2:21, ending just before 2:25 mark (I believe 2:24.5)

I know the drummer has got to be doing something with his RIGHT HAND during this fill, but even with live material I cannot tell what that is on this section. (and he tends to play a bit livelier LIVE too, which I don’t want to capture vs. this recoding anyways, but….it seems awkward for the right arm to just sit inert during this section…he’s so frantic everywhere else, lol….he may be tapping rims from what I can tell, but it’s NOT the high-hats/cymbals because they drop out of the audio during this…if rims, what do I do, chart nothing?
Any help appreciated. (my main focus is PRO EXPERT play, but I review all reductions too and want it playable…)
This is what I have charted for this part so far:

Okay thanks. You just need the RPP file? Sending now…
September 4, 2020 at 10:28 pm #513952I got chills when I saw what song you were talking about.
I’m not a real drummer so I don’t really have an ear for it and I know you said you already looked at some live stuff but this video gave me a pretty good idea of what he’s doing since the camera is on him (at least something to go off of). all ghost notes on left with mostly floor tom on right? Hard to say how much you can accurately chart of that without making it awkward to play.

Oh cool, I didn’t see that clip! Well maybe that will help AJFOne23 – he is taking a gander at it….
I want it as accurate as possible since I play at Pro Expert level, but of course I’ll reduce to easier carefully with lower difficulties…love this drummer (Rickie Mazzotta), but he can be a beast, LOL
Are you another mewithoutYou fan? Cool!
Never realized he has a feature, OnTheBeat on ModernDrummer! https://www.moderndrummer.com/2015/09/on-the-beat-with-rickie-mazzotta-of-mewithoutyou-wisdom-and-inspiration/
September 4, 2020 at 11:02 pm #513954Yeah I love mewithoutYou! Rickie is one of my all time favorite drummers. Never feels repetitive and compliments the emotion of their songs so well.
I was the one who “broke the cherry” on here by adding Julia last week. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
That was the first chart I’ve attempted. What a coincidence that no one has added anything by them until we both started charting. I haven’t dared to attempt anything more complicated just yet. However, even on that simple track I still managed to make a couple of mistakes on the drum chart. I’m going to update it soon to fix some mistakes and add animations, overdrive, etc.
Good luck!

Ahhhh cool! I noticed that track and was like, “Holy cow I need to start releasing some of their tracks too!”
Let me know if you want me to look at the chart for yours…maybe a fresh pair of eyes on the drums wouldn’t hurt? Would be glad to, just message me if so.
