I just finished a Sonny and Cher Duet. I put all the vocals on the vocal track, put Sonny’s part on Harm1, and Cher’s on Harm2. I made a DryVox from the Harm1 part (and put it into Magma), and another from the Harm2 notes.

I want the camera to cut back and forth between the two singers, so I did the venue camera cuts by hand – mostly alternating between the main singer and the bass player (with a bassist sing along marker for each Cher section).

The camera is doing just what I want, with cuts to the bass/Cher at just the right moments. The lead singer has good animated vocals, but the bassist’s lips never move.

Any idea where I messed up?

I think bass only ever lipsyncs to HARM3. You can use MiloMod, found elsewhere on the forum, to change that, I think. Venue experts will be able to tell you more and perhaps prove me wrong.

That explains what is going on. The two women in my “band” play drums and bass. Is there a similar problem with drums?

I just redid the venue to have the drummer sing along, but still no lip-synching.

I’ll try having the guitarist sing along next.

In general, Vocals sings HARM 1, Guitar sings HARM 2, Bass sings HARM 3, and Keys swaps in for whatever is not currently being used (Keys + guitar keys will be HARM 3, Keys + bass keys will be HARM 2). If you add drum singing notes to the venue track, it duplicates HARM 1. To get the effect of HARM 2 on Bass or Drums, you will need milomod. If you swap your cuts to guitar, it should work correctly.

Also, make sure that the venue track has sing along notes for the different instrumentalists, or they won’t sing.

One additional thing is that I believe Bass will sing HARM 2 if there are only two harmony parts.

Thanks, all. Swapping the Cher part to guitar worked fine. Of course, I play guitar, and my alter-ego is quite male. Seeing him pretending to be Cher is a bit funny. But, I’ve always had my inner Cher.

                As to

There are only two singing parts, H1 and H2. In my first versions, with bass singing along, I got no lip-synch, so I don’t think this works.
