Hello people
Im having a bit of a brain fart, and im hoping some kind soul can help…
I have scoured the docs and youtube, but cant find a definitive way to add the dryvox which ( as i understand it , creates the animations for the singer )
correct me if im wrong.
I understand that the self sung file has to be mono and at 16khz
Question 1 is this file just added to magma ,(dryvox box ) if so , i dont want to hear it so, do i render the file at zero volume ? and then put it in
Question 2 Should i convert the audio file to midi ( which i tried last night and just got a complete mess …)
Question 3 Or am i just misunderstanding the whole concept
Thanks in advance, and my apologies if ive missed the bleeding obvious
Cheers all
January 24, 2019 at 7:08 pm #503119Don’t mute the dryvox audio. Just record it in REAPER, render it at 16 khz mono, and add it to your Magma project. No conversions necessary.

Rest assured you won’t. You should render it at a volume appropriate with the music overall for the most accurate results. But you can render it at zero volume if you want (or use a blank dryvox provided in Magma itself).
And no, converting audio to MIDI isn’t necessary. Think of MIDI as a scoresheet rather than a musical instrument. You can read and transcribe it to make music, but it doesn’t make a sound itself.
The way Magma makes use of your dryvox doesn’t have anything to do with hearing or playing it back unlike the other audio tracks. It’s all about forming vocals gameplay rules and vocalist lip animations with it.
January 24, 2019 at 7:39 pm #503121Wow, Thanks guy’s for such a swift response.
I must admit its a bit of a head scratcher, with the dryvox being able to animate the singer ….
Ahhh the wonders of technology..
Ill get right on it, and add the dryvox and see what happens..
If all goes well, a new song should be uploaded soon.
Thanks again
ps , forgot to add question…if the dryvox animates the singer, do i still need to put events in like [play] [play_realtime] etc etc
January 24, 2019 at 7:55 pm #503122The dry vox don’t animate th singer, rather only the lips, as Oddbrother pointed out ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
January 24, 2019 at 7:57 pm #503123Ok, Good to know , Thank you everybody.
Update….Hahaha Havent had this much fun in ages…I added the dry vox, built the song , connected mic drums and guitar..
Song starts, the singer turns his back on the audience and walks off to the rear , behind the drummer , and reappears towards the end of the song….
I didnt think my dry vox wwas THAT Bad…lol
Is it something im missing or just a quirk of the software/ Game ?
January 24, 2019 at 8:56 pm #503125And in my experience it’s much safer to “sing” in a robotic fashion. Just talk on pitch, if that makes any sense. Really exaggerate your mouth and lips while you do it. Try to make things a bit more staccato than they actually are to put some space between the words (so the singer won’t just stand there with a gaping maw if all the words are “linked” together). Actually performing like the singer has generally given me poor lip sync results.
January 24, 2019 at 9:07 pm #503126Cheers for that…
I gotta be honest, my vocal charting is not the best.

Actually, the dryvox doesn’t animate the singer, only lipsync movements.
That just happens when you have one camera cut for the entirety of the song. Either you didn’t set an autogen venue, or you don’t have Title Update 4 installed.
Is this is happening on every song, then you don’t have TU4. Go into RBtoUSB in C3 Con Tools, and somewhere in that menu, there should be an option to add Title Update 4 in there.
If it only happens with that song, then either you didn’t set a venue theme to autogenerate for you, or you don’t have practice sections, which allow autogen venue.
Hope that helps!
January 26, 2019 at 3:12 am #503167Good call, i was testing putting most of the customs onto the Internal HDD as i was having a few customs break….
Basically i tested on another xbox 360 with the customs loaded but without the flash drive in that contains the TU4 Update…
Im guessing thats the problem… as i did auto generate the venue in magma.
Cheers for the feedback
