Hey all.
I know it’s highly unlikely, but I figured I should share some personal favorite songs and wishes for Rock Band Customs. Now, I know some might be in the works with some folks, but I just have some songs that I would love to see get done (with everything from harmonies to keys). I’ll even give a bit of a reason why I highly recommend the song/artist. And remember, this is just me being a fan of everyone’s work and I would love to give suggestions.
Thanks in advance if anyone does any of these songs!
September 5, 2018 at 1:08 am #500643AFI – “Snow Cats”Song completed thanks to TheFriskThere’s something magical about this AFI song to me. Maybe it’s that it sounds like AFI have matured both musically and lyrically, or maybe it’s that the song is just so haunting. Either way, I feel this would be a fun song for Rock Band.
Is it a perfect song for Rock Band? No, far from it. But I believe some more electronic music should be welcomed into the fold, and with a bassline like that and angelic keys, why not start with Air?
The Alabama Shakes – “Hang Loose”
If you ask me, any and all songs by The Alabama Shakes should be added to Rock Band, but this seems like the perfect choice to start it. Such a fun little song.
We already have one song about Stephen King’s novel ‘The Stand’, so why not another with a haunting harmonica?
Alex Cornish – “Brothers In Arms”
This one is a bit of a wildcard one. I’m totally stoked that we have the original Dire Straits version, but this cover is beautiful and I would love to see it join the ranks of the customs.
The All American Rejects – “Why Worry”
This was one of the first albums I bought with my own money, and I always get excited when I see more AAR customs being made. So, I just want to throw my hat into the ring of suggesting a personal fav.
Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness – “Brooklyn, You’re Killing Me”
Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness – “Fire Escape”
Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness – “Island Radio”Andrew McMahon’s newest project is fun to listen to, and I can only imagine it would be even more fun with keyboards. The three above are suggestions, but I’m down for any of his songs.
Andrew W.K. – “She Is Beautiful”
Rock Band is a party game, so let’s add some true party songs.
Andrew W.K. – “Party Party Party”
See above comment. And yes, this is from Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
The Antlers – “I Don’t Want Love”
The Antlers – “Putting The Dog To Sleep”Gonna be honest here: The Antlers are a personal favorite of a band. Is there music ideal for Rock Band? Debatable. That’s why I limited it to the first and last songs of one of my favorite albums. If someone does make this song, it will be hard for me to play through the tears.
The Aquabats – “Super Rad!”
The Aquabats – “Awesome Forces!”I seriously can’t be the only AquaCadet here, can I?
Arcade Fire – “No Cars Go (EP Version)”Song completed thanks to KamotchArcade Fire – “Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)”Song completed thanks to egeadArcade Fire’s sound is that of a bunch of friends hanging around, having fun, and singing stories. We have some of their music already, and I would love to see the above songs made as well.
B.E.R. – “Rise Up”
B.E.R. – “Forever Mine”
B.E.R. – “The Night Begins To Shine”Yes, these songs are from Teen Titans Go. I have mixed feelings about the show, but these songs. Holy crap, do they have some serious grooves and beats. Not holding my breath on these, but dang “Rise Up” is a cool anthem.
I love indie garage rock, and this song is such a breath of fresh air in music as of late.
Beastie Boys – “Shadrach”
It makes me feel better to know that I’m not the only fan of the Beastie Boys here. In fact, they were going to be first concert way back when. Anyway, this is one of my favorite songs by them, and I feel this could actually transfer to Rock Band fairly well.Beebs And Her Money Makers – “Waterfalls”
I’m a huge fan of ska, and you will see quite a few of suggestions for the genre. Here’s a fun cover that would be fun to see in the library.
Ben Folds Five – “Army”
I seriously can’t be the only one to want this song, right?Best Coast – “The Only Place”
I swear this song was my summer jam way back when and it seems like it should of been on Rock Band to begin with.blink-182 – “All Of This”
blink-182 – “Home Is A Lonely Place”Shameless plug for more blink-182.
Bomb The Music Industry! – “Vocal Coach”
Jeff Rosenstock says it best with this song: nothing’s forever, dude.
A band from my backyard singing about our hometown. Of course I would love to see this song being playable.
Catfish And The Bottlemen – “7”
This was the first Catfish and the Bottlemen song I heard and I fell in love with their sound. Shame this was never done beforehand. Maybe some time soon?
Catherine Warwick – “Pollyanna (I Believe In You)”
Catherine Warwick – “Bein’ Friends”The old Nintendo game ‘Mother’ (also known as ‘Earthbound Beginnings’) is one of my favorite games for two reasons: the story and the beautiful music. These two songs always touch my core and I love it to death. The songs just remind you of the beauty of friendship. Also, I highly recommend playing all three games of the ‘Mother’ series if you can.
Sure, it’s the opening to theme to ‘Superjail’, but you can’t deny it’s perfect for Rock Band.
The Church – “Under The Milky Way”
This song blew me away when I was a kid. Even more so when I found out that the solo is actually a bass played with a bow, and not bagpipes.
Dan Potthast – “Melbourne”
Dan Potthast – “Somewhere In The Between”Dan P. used to be the frontman of the ska band MU330. He then started an indie career, which I feel he found his home. If you ever get the chance, see him live. His live shows are always on the spot and with writes songs right on the spot. He’s such a fun guy.
I’m a sucker for old school hip hop, and this has to be one of my favorite De La Soul songs.
Death Cab For Cutie – “Grapevine Fires”
Death Cab For Cutie – “Transatlanticism”This might be one of my favorite bands. Something about Ben’s voice, the crafting of the music and the lyrics, and how it all comes together to make something so beautiful. ‘Transatlanticism’ is a near flawless album and my go-to album to relax. Would love to see the whole album done one day.
The Decemberists – “The Crane Wife 3”
I feel we got robbed of The Decemberists’ music in Rock Band. Yeah, we got “The Perfect Crime #2”, but I know we could have gotten this and maybe more. Maybe I just wish we did.Dropkick Murphys – “First Class Loser”
Dropkick Murphys – “4-15-13”
Dropkick Murphys – “The State of Massachusetts”Everyone knows “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”, and it’s a fine song. But Dropkick Murphys have done so much more than that. And their newest album, my goodness they are still as rowdy as ever.
Echo And The Bunnymen – “Lips Like Sugar”
The hook in this song is so infectious. It would be so fun to play.
Elton John – “Sad Songs (Say So Much)”
This Elton John song always seemed forgotten. It’s such a fun song with a fun piano part and lyrics saying it’s okay to be sad.
September 5, 2018 at 1:54 am #500645We gotta get all of the songs from the first two Tony Hawk games. It’s our duty.
Everlast has such a unique style of bluesy-folk with hip-hop.
Explosions In The Sky – “First Breath After Coma”
Explosions In The Sky – “So Long, Lonesome”
Explosions In The Sky – “Be Comfortable, Creature”
Explosions In The Sky – “With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept”
I was floored to see that we got EITS as a custom. Perhaps I can make a suggestion for a song or two?The Flaming Lips – “Fight Test”
The Flaming Lips – “Waitin’ For Superman (Is It Gettin’ Heavy)”‘The Front Bottoms – “HELP”
The Front Bottoms – “Plastic Flowers”
The Front Bottoms – “Everyone But You”
The Front Bottoms – “Trampoline”
The Front Bottoms – “Don’t Fill Up On Chips”
The Front Bottoms – “Tattoo Tears”
I recently got into this band, and holy crap their discography is full of great songs. Believe me, I had to cut a lot to just get down to those six above.Hey Ocean! – “Maps”
Hey Ocean! – “Jolene”This band is magical. Hey Ocean! is seriously one of the best live bands I have seen (every time they put on a great show), and they are so awesome to just chat with (hell, Ashleigh offered to buy me a beer after a show one time). I can’t stress how great their sound is.
Rock Band has introduced me to so many new bands, and Hypernova was one of them. Man, this song is such a banger.
Iron And Wine – “Such Great Heights”
Iron And Wine feat. Ben Bridwell – “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)”When I die, I want to have Iron And Wine play my funeral. I’m sure he’ll be cool with it, right?
Jackson Brown – “The Load-Out/Stay (Live)”
I think I first heard this song in the early hours on the radio during some sort of family trip. As a kid, I didn’t realize it was a single song. All I knew is that I fell in love with it, especially the piano.
Jimmy Cliff – “You Can Get It If You Really Want”
I feel we need can always use more reggae, especially now that we can play the horns with the keys.
Kate Bush – “Running Up That Hill (A Deal Witih God)”
How the hell do we not have any Kate Bush in Rock Band?
Kermit The Frog – “Rainbow Connection”
The Killers – “Runaways”
The Killers – “Miss Atomic Bomb”
The Killers – “Tyson vs. Douglas”Thanks to this song, I can’t listen to a lot of Christmas the same way again.
Langhorne Slim And The Law – “The Way We Move”
It’s like a campfire song you’d sing at summer camp or something.
Less Than Jake – “Overrated (Everything Is)”
Less Than Jake – “Do The Math”Fun fact: I almost was killed by a t-shirt cannon during the Less Than Jake during Warped Tour a few years ago.
Masked Intruder – “How Do I Get To You”
Masked Intruder – “Heart Shaped Guitar”
Masked Intruder – “25 To Life”I love how Masked Intruder would often harmonize with themselves in their songs. Making punk classy.
MC Lars – “Mr. Raven 2012 (feat. The Dead Milkmen)”
MC Lars – “The Ballad Of Hans Moleman”
I can’t be the only one who wants more Post-Punk Laptop Rap. Let’s have some lit-hop.September 5, 2018 at 2:13 am #500646Metric – “Grow Up And Blow Away”
Metric – “Stadium Love”Emily Haines of Metric has to be one of the best frontwomen of rock. She just knows how to own the stage and belt out those lyrics.
The Mowgli’s – “San Francisco”
This song is just so fun to sing along with.
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds – “Red Right Hand”
I just love how creepy this song is. Nick Cave’s voice is so wonderfully haunting
Of Monsters And Men – “Mountain Sound”
Of Monsters And Men – “Dirty Paws”
Of Monsters And Men – “Lakehouse”The biggest thing to come out of Iceland since Bjork and Sigur Ros.
A Perfect Circle – “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish”
I swear when I first heard this song, I thought it was some new band or something. Shocked me to find out it was Maynard singing with A Perfect Circle.
The Pillows – “Ride On Shooting Star”
The Pillows – “Little Busters”
The Pillows – “Hybrid Rainbow”
The Pillows – “Thank you, my twilight”
The Pillows – “I Think I Can”FLCL (pronounced “Fooly Cooly”) is one of those animes that affect you in a way that you can’t really describe. Long after you finish the last episode, it stays with you. The Pillows’ soundtrack is part of that reason.
The Postal Service – “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight”
The Postal Service – “We Will Become Silhouettes”
The Postal Service – “Such Great Heights”Dntel and Ben from Death Cab For Cutie working together to make one of the greatest musical duos of the 2000s. Shame it had to end so quickly.
The Presidents Of The United States Of America – “Some Postman”
Public Service Broadcasting – “Go!”
This song always makes me smile. Maybe because it’s about space exploration and the Apollo 11 mission.
September 5, 2018 at 2:35 am #500647Rainbow – “Man On The Silver Mountain”
I feel Rainbow should have been a much bigger band, especially with Cozy on drums.
Rancid – “Roots Radicals”
Rancid – “Daly City Train”
Rancid – “Telegraph Avenue”
The fact that Harmonix only gave us one Rancid pack is criminal.Reel Big Fish – “Don’t Let Me Down, Gently”
Reel Big Fish – “The Promise”
Reel Big Fish – “Another Day In Paradise”I told you there would be a desire for more ska, and here are some fun covers that would be cool to have.
Rocket From the Crypt – “On A Rope”
Rodrigo Y Gabriela – “Tamacun”
Rodrigo Y Gabriela – “Ixtapa”The fact we actually got releases from these two (granted on RBN) was amazing.
The Rural Alberta Advantage – “North Star”
The Rural Alberta Advantage – “The Coldest Days”
The Rural Alberta Advantage – “Eye Of The Tiger”
The Rural Alberta Advantage – “Don’t Haunt This Place”
The Rural Alberta Advantage – “The Air”There’s something beautiful about this band. Sure, nothing they have is going to exactly be challenging or crazy to play, but there’s something so soothing about their music and I’d love it for a custom or two.
Shonen Knife – “Top Of The World”
Sigur Ros – “Olsen Olsen”
Sigur Ros – “Viorar veltel loftarasa”
Sigur Ros – “Hoppipolla”
Sigur Ros – “Saeglopur”
Sigur Ros – “Untitled #1”
Sigur Ros – “Untitled #3”
Sigur Ros – “Untitled #8”This Icelandic band actually helped get me through college (heck, I got to see them right after my last final and a five hour drive). It’s hard to single out a couple songs, so please forgive me.
Silversun Pickups – “Cradle (Better Nature)”
Silversun Pickups – “Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)”
Silversun Pickups – “Latchkey Kids”
Silversun Pickups – “Growing Old Is Getting Old”
Silversun Pickups – “Dots and Dashes (Enough Already)”The Pickups follow in the footsteps of shoegazing pioneers. They honestly have not written a bad song, but I do have some requests of songs to our sizable Silversun Pickups library.
The Slits – “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”
I know this would mean we would have three versions of the song, but dang it this would be a fun version to play.September 5, 2018 at 3:12 am #500648Streetlight Manifesto – “Point/Counterpoint”
Streetlight Manifesto – “With Any Sort OF Certainity”
Streetlight Manifesto – “Toe To Toe”
Streetlight Manifesto – “Dear Sergio”

Streetlight Manifesto – “As The Footseps Die Out Forever”
Streetlight Manifesto – “We Will Fall Together”
Streetlight Manifesto – “Would You Be Impressed?”

Really, anything by Streetlight Manifesto would be wonderful. Again, A lot of ska requests from me.Suburban Legends – “Gummi Bears”
Suburban Legends – “Just Can’t Wait To Be King”
Suburban Legends – “My Friend”
Suburban Legends – “Under The Sea”
Suburban Legends – “Can’t Stop It (feat. Lyrics Born)”
Suburban Legends – “Duck Tales”
Suburban Legends – “Beauty And The Beast”
Suburban Legends – “Kiss The Girl”
Suburban Legends – “Thank You For Being A Friend”
Suburban Legends – “Forever In The Friendzone”
Suburban Legends – “I Want More”
Suburban Legends – “Bright Spring Morning”
This ska band is one of the most fun you’ll see live. They are like a ska boy band, they way they dance on stage. And their covers of Disney songs have given them fans of all ages. Fun fact: The Rev of Avenged Sevenfold was originally a founding member of this band.Switchfoot – “Gone”
Switchfoot – “Dare You To Move”
Switchfoot – “Stars”Talking Heads – “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)”Song completed thanks to yaniv297 (from the live album ‘Stop Making Sense’)One of my favorite songs by the Talking Heads. Nothing crazy or all that exciting, I’d imagine, but dang if this song isn’t both cute and happy.
Tim Armstrong – “Into Action (feat. Skye Sweetnam)”
The song is just so fun. It makes you want to get up and move.
The Toasters – “Thrill Me Up”
The Toasters – “Two-Tone Army”Yes, the song “Two-Tone Army” was the theme for the old Nick cartoon ‘Ka-Blam’.
Toh Kay – “With Any Sort Of Certainty”
Toh Kay – “If Only For The Memories”
Toh Kay – “Oh Me, Oh My”
Toh Kay – “A Better Place, A Better Time”
Toh Kay – “Would You Be Impressed?”
Toh Kay – “The Big Sleep”
Toh Kay – “The Man With The Skeleton Arms”I will be the first to admit a bit of a selfishness here, me wanting a lot of a single artist. Even more so since Toh Kay is the front man of Streelight Manifesto and his solo stuff is just acoustic versions of his ska songs. But dang it if the stripped down version doesn’t add a new meaning to the song.
Urge Overkill – “Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon”
The White Stripes – “My Doorbell”
The White Stripes – “Hotel Yorba”
The White Stripes – “Effect & Cause”Jack and Meg White might not be married anymore, nor making music again, but their magic of teamwork still shines with their beautiful music.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – “Soft Shock”
Karen O’s voice always has a hypnotic effect on me. So beautiful, and with her boys backing her up, they know how to make great music.
The 1975 are all over musically, which is why I like them. This song seems to be their attempt to make a mellow pop-rock song. They certainly succeeded.
September 5, 2018 at 3:13 am #500649And that will do it! I’m sure I’ll add to it and edit it when people make any of the customs!
Lemme know what you guys think, if you have questions, or whatever!
Also, here are some songs that have been added that I wish I would have thought of myself. Credit to those amazing folks who made these!
“Invaders Must Die” by The Prodigy
I’ve been a fan of The Prodigy the second I heard ‘Fat Of The Land’, and would love to see more in the future. On a slightly related note, anyway we can get DJ Hero mixes on Rock Band? Long shot, I know.
A simple and cute song about moving on. Needless to say, this song has helped me quite a few times.
“Television!/Television!/Television!/Television!/Television!” and so on and so forth.
“Disarm (Live)” by Smashing Pumpkins
“Mayonaise (Acoustic)” by Smashing PumpkinsThe Pumpkins are one of my favorite bands. These two songs from ‘Siamese Dream’ are some of my favs, and I do love how Earphoria made them so different.
“Down By The Water” by PJ Harvey
When we have this song play at my work, I seem to frighten some customers and co-workers how I know this PJ Harvey song. Shame on them for not knowing it.
Speaking of co-workers, one of them is a huge Bad Suns fan, and I know she’s going to be happy. In fact, she might get Rock Band 3 just for this.
“Somewhere Over The Rainbow” by Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole
To be honest, this song was going to be a request of mine. However, I didn’t think it would be ideal. Either way, thank you so freaking much, you angels.
A criminally underrated song, and I’m actually sad we only ever got one New Order song (two if you count Joy Division, which sorta is New Order, but not).
“JoJo Sono Chi no Kioku (end of THE WORLD)” by JO STARS (TOMMY, Coda, JIN)
All these Jojo songs are a labor of love, from their charts to their venues. I’m over the freaking moon about these customs. Ora ora ora ora ora ora!
And here I thought I was the only one wishing for Hayden songs! While his stuff might not be the most exciting stuff, it certainly is just enjoyable to listen to.
“Wild Wild Life” by Talking Heads
A very underrated song for the Talking Heads.
“A Night Like This” by The Cure
The Cure is one of the best rock bands in the world. Either you agree with me or you are wrong.
“Home” by Edward Sharpe And The Magentic Zeroes
Thanks to Atruejedi, I can play one of my favorite duets on every instrument! Gah, this song is just so pure and beautiful.
September 5, 2018 at 5:27 am #500650That’s one hell of a list. There’s lot of good songs in there!
September 5, 2018 at 9:56 am #500652There’s something magical about this AFI song to me. Maybe it’s that it sounds like AFI have matured both musically and lyrically, or maybe it’s that the song is just so haunting. Either way, I feel this would be a fun song for Rock Band.
I’ve got this one in progress. Haven’t touched it in a while (think it still needs a vox chart), but I’ll pick it back up since someone requested it.
September 5, 2018 at 1:30 pm #500654You really should check existing content before making a request. Failing to do so shows a lack of respect for the author’s time.
Now, having said that…
Jackson Brown – “The Load-Out/Stay (Live)”
I think I first heard this song in the early hours on the radio during some sort of family trip. As a kid, I didn’t realize it was a single song. All I knew is that I fell in love with it, especially the piano.
Artist: Jackson Browne
Song: The Load Out / Stay
Charted: Pro Keys/Guitar/Bass/Vox/Drums/Map
Pending: KeysSeptember 5, 2018 at 5:36 pm #500659What I’d love to see that you’ve listed:

September 5, 2018 at 7:25 pm #500661That’s one hell of a list. There’s lot of good songs in there!
Thanks! I figured I wouldn’t be the only one who wishes for some of these songs!
I’ve got this one in progress. Haven’t touched it in a while (think it still needs a vox chart), but I’ll pick it back up since someone requested it.
Sweet! I can’t wait to see “Snow Cats” when you get it done!
Apologies! I thought I went over all of them (including for upcoming C3X. While I saw “The Load-Out/Stay” in the database, I have to admit it’s the keys that I’m dying to play (and singing David Lindley’s falsetto part).
What I’d love to see that you’ve listed:

Of course Snow Cats too but I knew TheFrisk was working on it ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />!
I knew I wasn’t the only fan of The Church! Haha
September 5, 2018 at 7:56 pm #500662Shadrach by Beastie Boys? Make sure you download my release of 3-Minute Rule from the same album!
Hey Ocean!… I will be seeing them in the coming months and am super excited; even moreso now that you’ve said they’re great live!
Doorbell by the White Stripes is on my mind a lot lately. I’d love to team up with some authors and get it done. But I want to upgrade Denial Twist (which is in the database but lacks vocals) first.
Army by Ben Folds…
WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?
Adding it to my WIP thread for the near future. If anybody wants to team up, you know where I am! This will get made, friend.
[Edit] Found this… somebody made Army by Ben Folds, but all the links are broken and the guy hasn’t been active in over two years. Anybody still have it?
September 5, 2018 at 8:08 pm #500663You really should check existing content before making a request. Failing to do so shows a lack of respect for the author’s time.
Now, having said that…
With respect, I’m a huge Jackson Browne fan and I missed that one in the database for a long time as well because it’s missing the hyphen in The Load-Out. Additionally, it’s a song with a slash in it, so that complicates matters even more. I can completely understand this fellow searching for it and not finding it.
September 5, 2018 at 8:57 pm #500664Fair enough, I suppose… Tho’ I can’t seem to find an official instance of a hyphen in the title. Anyway, his site doesn’t use one. And ‘Jackson’, ‘Browne’, ‘Load’ and ‘Stay’ all find it just fine. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
