Hello all
It was recently pointed out to me , that as im converting some GH dlc to RB that i should use the multitracks.
Fair enough , i thought, so i checked it out today,
Magma has ( as i understand, and can see ) 3 slots for drums Kit – Snare – Kick
The next GH convert im looking at has 4 Drum .ogg files.
Kick
Snare
Hi-Hat
Toms
So my question is , do i mix 2 of the files together and use the 3 slots or do put the 4th drum .ogg somewhere else.
Or am i missing something thats bleedin obvious.
Thanks
What almost everyone to my knowledge does is to make a single drum stem. This will allow to make the CON file much smaller.
Hadnt thought about the file size .. Hmm good point ……perhaps the person who asked me to use Multitracks was referring to G/B/and Drums.
Thanks for the reply
If I remember correctly RB combines toms and hi hats in one stem. I think that’s how I did it back in the day.

Not only making it the drums stem makes the CON file much smaller, it also increase the chance of the song to work on wii without modification.

Correct. That’s what Magma calls the ‘kit’ stem.

Thanks for the advice guy’s………
I just finished an experiment with a GH song using separate tracks, The file size is 23Mb compared to approx 5Mb ……………
I not sure if its a good idea to continue with this system , even though it may pee off a few people……….
I dont know….. what do you guys think ?

Am I doing this right?

23mb is fine. The only size that actually matters is 40mb, because that’s the size limit on wii. Sadly the size is not the only thing the wii is fussy about, if there’s too much stems it stutters.
Other than that, the size doesn’t matter, I don’t think either ps3 or x360 have a file size limit.

No practical limit exists on the 360, but CON files can’t go over 4GB, I’ve found.
The 4GB limit is probably a FAT32 limitation and not the console itself.
