Hello,
I am currently in the process of creating my first custom, in fact I’m nearly done. I managed to get it into RB3 and played through it – however, the music track starts as soon as the chart pops up, resulting in the music being ahead of the chart by about a measure and a half. I was attempting to fix this when I ran into another problem.
After editing the midi file in reaper, and creating another rba file through magma, once I put it through concreator, the file has no song info. When I look at it on RBtoUSB, the title, artist, and song ID are all blank. Thus it does not read the new file as a different song ID, and i am stuck with the incorrect track on Rockband, which I have deleted.
Here’s a picture of what my event track looks like:
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am ready to get this done.
EDIT: Issue has been solved thanks to the kind MrPrezident.
May 27, 2017 at 12:03 am #485528Did you render the backing track in reaper ? Usually what you are describing is because that step was skipped and you’re choosing the audio source as the backing track. You have to render it with every instrument muted except for the countin.
What you’re looking for is covered on page 27 of the authoring guide. You really should take time to read the entire document carefully.
I don’t know what’s causing your second issue but I don’t think it has anything to do with the events track. Just make a new magma project and try compiling again.
Good luck on your first custom!

MrPrezident: https://db.c3universe.com/songs/all/__user/MrPrezidentMay 27, 2017 at 1:17 am #485539The second issue sounds like it’s caused by an old version of Magma. Update to the latest version of MagmaC3 and you can ditch concreator entirely.

Ah, that seems like it might be the answer to my original problem. I rendered the muted tracks, but neglected to render the backing track in Reaper. Thanks for the help!
For the second problem, I have tried multiple new magma projects. So far two have had song information, while the rest do not. Still trying to figure out what I did.
Edit: Just double checked the tutorial, it says use the actual audio for the backing track. Is this incorrect, or am I misunderstanding his wording here? The way he states it makes it seem like only the instrument tracks are processed in Reaper.

Thanks! I’ll check for a newer version and give that a try. Just checking, what files should I receive after putting the midis and audio through Magma? Currently I get an .rba and a .c3 file; I then conert the .rba to a .con using ConTools.
Also, my version of magma is C3 Roks V3.
May 27, 2017 at 5:56 am #485548I believe V3.3.2 is the most current.
You will definitely need to render the backing audio with the instruments muted with the exception of the countin, for every single custom project. The resulting file will typically be a second or two longer than the source audio because it has the countin track added to the front. Make sure reaper is pointing to this wav file as the backing track.
If all else fails post a link to your reaper file. I think you’re very close to having it figured out.

Just to make sure I’m getting this correctly, I must render two audio tracks in Reaper. The first being a track with everything muted that will be used for the instrument tracks, and the second being the backing track with only the song audio and countin left unmuted. Does that sound right?
May 27, 2017 at 6:07 am #485550Well, you’re half right. You’re only need to render one track in reaper. You don’t have to render a silent track, there are blank files already included with magma. In this image::
where it says ‘stereo44.wav’ – these are blank audio files that come with magma. So you need to locate those files and make sure each instument points to them (the same file). What I do is make an ‘audio’ folder with ‘stereo44.wav’ inside it, then just drop that folder into my reaper project. Then the paths automatically line up when you hit compile. I hope that makes sense ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

MrPrezident: https://db.c3universe.com/songs/all/__user/MrPrezidentMay 27, 2017 at 6:17 am #485551Indeed it does! In fact magma pre-loads those files into the tracks for me upon creating a new project. Time to test and see if this works out.
May 27, 2017 at 6:42 am #485552All is well. That did it! The tempo map is in desperate need of adjusting, but that is easily fixed. Again, thank you so much for the help! I’ll post the track as soon as I’m done with it. Hopefully you’re a Chevelle fan and can get some enjoyment out of this.
May 27, 2017 at 6:48 am #485553Awesome! Looking forward to trying it out, and hopefully more in the future. Have a good weekend.
