Hello everyone – my text event of PART VOCALS is stuck at 1:1:002. I have not had this issue before.

To solve it on my own I have looked around these forums for a while, read more RBN Docs, have quantized selected event (PART VOCALS) to grid position, and manually changed the position to 1:1:00 and even 1:1:000. Regardless, Magma returns the following error:

ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART VOCALS): MIDI track name event must appear at 1:1:000; found track name ‘PART VOCALS’ at 1:1:002

Is someone able to help me resolve this please? Thank you all for your help with this, and also for all the rest on this site.

Open the track, make sure snap is on, put your cursor on the far left side of the screen at 1:1:000, then click and drag to the left like you were stretching out the track in that direction. Then quantize everything and re-import your lyrics. Check that the part vocals event is actually at 1:1:000 by double clicking it. Finally export and use the midi cleaner. I don’t know how this happens but it happens to me once in a while, this fixes it for me every time.

EDIT: I can’t seem to open that rpp file, ‘error parsing file’. Anyways good luck.

i had this error before also. I had messed up my tempo map with an incorrect time signature change, after i fixed that my midi tracks re aligned to 1:1:000. im not sure at all if the tempo map has anything to do with misaligned midi tracks, but thats what i remember fixing it unless i did something else that i forgot about. i may be wrong but you can check your tempo map and see.

I’ve never had this happen before, but one thing I’d check is to see if the MIDI items themselves start at 1:1:000, or if it got misaligned somehow. Also as Sweatr mentions, it could also be that a tempo map marker could be misaligned or in some way messing with the MIDI tracks, misaligning them.

Thanks SO much guys!! MrPrezident’s recommendation with the dragging the midi track area further to the left worked. Thank goodness. This midi apparently still hates me though because now I’m getting two other Magma errors I don’t understand that I’ve never seen before:

        1) (PART VOCALS): Misaligned lyric at [21:1:362] (expected at [21:1:360]) – there are no notes or lyric events at this measure position and even after deleting those around it just to see, I still get this error. No idea what’s happening.

        2) (MIDI FILE): Unison phrases don’t quite coincide at [63:1:000] in tracks PART REAL_KEYS and PART DRUMS – the drums don’t play at measure 63:1 so there would be no unison phrase. I don’t have a Real_Keys part (that may be the problem) and besides, this measure is a part of the song that occurs elsewhere without this error.

Yeesh! Hopefully I’ll figure these out in time. Just venting right now. But if anyone is feeling up to providing assistance I’ll take it

Number 2 is pretty self explanatory: if you read the RBN rules, something you have to if you want to author, you will know OD phrases must coincide. PART DRUMS and PART KEYS OD phrases are not aligned at M63 (where drums play, not sure why you think they don’t)

          – did you quantize the notes? Select the note tubes attached to the words “have” and “said”, then Q to quantize. Or click on the lyrics text event attached to those 2 words and Shift + A to align the text events with the note tubes

          – did you try and re-import the lyrics? (if you even imported them, which you should).

Thank you Farottone – I was frustrated and not taking my time in between doing other things, and completely missed the obvious. I should have stepped away and come back when I could analyze the situation properly. Thanks for taking the time to help me.

I did quantize the notes and lyrics to the grid, but since I was not taking my time like I said above I probably missed a something and was just frustrated. I will check into this and use your recommendations probably Mon as I’m going to be away until then. Thanks Sweatr!

With this attitude you can only improve, be better and get good at this.

Hey there – sorry, it took me considerably longer than I thought to get back to my song. Regardless, everything worked out fine now per all recommendations, and thanks again to Farottone, Sweatr, MrPrezident and Gigikoops

…and reimporting the lyrics worked for #1. Didn’t even have to re-quantize.

Thanks! Time to get back to improving….
