i’ve run into a bit of a problem when finalizing my customs; that being that i accurately place the tiers of all the instruments and then take a wild guess at the tier for vocals. i’ve had odd experiences with HMX vocal tiering before; i’ve found some high-tier songs easy and low-tier ones extremely hard, so i really don’t know what exactly constitutes vocal difficulty. i’ve looked around and there doesn’t seem to be any guide for tiering, so:
does anyone have specific standards they tier vocals by, and if so, could we maybe have it put up as a general resource? maybe even include tiering guides for the other instruments as well if people want them.
Vocals tiers are very subjective. Things that make up the bulk of them:
1) Octaves span
2) Popularity of the song
3) How precise the singer is in singing
4) Complex parts with short and hard to hit notes
5) Speed of the lyrics
thanks for the help! some of those i’d never considered; this should be useful.
