I’m on a self-given quest to full combo gold star all the devil tiered C3 custom songs on vocals. I’m looking for a 100% and gold stars. That’s it.
100% because it means I didn’t miss a single phrase not even to a 99% glitch – where the game rounds down to a 99% on a phrase but let’s you keep your multiplier and it gives you an awesome thereby tricking you until the end of the song – which happens so many times it makes you want throw your controller into your TV. Gold stars because it shows I can use overdrive effectively and it also proves that I am on expert difficulty. Gold stars is disabled on anything below expert difficulty.
Although you may think a full combo and gold stars is challenging, especially on devil tiered songs, the real challenge is achieving all this while not octave shifting except in really rare cases like Ray Of Light and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger where the charted range is out of my singing range.
You’ll find below some rare examples of me singing solo.

January 17, 2015 at 11:47 pm #436489Good job on the Bagger 288 FC. I for one can’t imagine signing that high and so fast, and even the talkies at the end can be a bit much (if you actually try to say them, that is).

I for one can’t imagine signing that high and so fast, and even the talkies at the end can be a bit much (if you actually try to say them, that is).The combined upper range and constant shifting up and down was wicked tough. I don’t list it as super devil tiered lightly.
January 18, 2015 at 5:11 am #436498Fancy stuff! Good luck with Harder Better Faster Stronger, you are gonna need it ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
Also any chance of any videos going forward?

Videos require quite a bit extra but I’ll be glad to do videos for a specifically requested song (devil tiered) not already FC’ed.
Also the HBFS I can already tell will be my final song.
I’m really tempted to just omit it but it might be doable with octave shifting.
The total range of the song is E2 to F#5. I can hit all the mid to high notes but the low notes are just too low for me to hit without octave shifting.
If it isn’t obvious to anyone, the vocals are charted to the vocoder and not the original vocals. There is a single phrase that lasts about 2 seconds and goes from F#5 to F#4 to F#3 to F#2. Yeah.
January 18, 2015 at 8:17 pm #436536Took me around 10 full tries starting with a blind sight read to get an FC on Hey Baby. I liked singing T-Pain’s autotune part in full voice without autotune. It mixed really well. Was going to make a video but my phone’s charging port is dying and it won’t let me record on a low battery and I didn’t want to wait for a full battery.
Along with a Bloody Well Right FC which was not hard even having to octave switch to the weirdly “charted up an octave” chorus, I am now 12/61 complete in 2 days so far.
edit: FC’ed Sweet Child in 2 takes. Axl Rose can fuck off.
edit: FC’ed Thriller in 2 takes, allegedly ALLEGEDLY! Yalls ignint.
edit: So happy and surprised. Just got an FC on You Take My Breath Away. Did not expect that. This song is wicked hard without octave switching! Took me 3 takes but I’ve tried it a bunch on previous days.
edit: I’m shaking after seeing 100% on Whole Lotta Love. I had to do 3 takes because the first time I messed the Spacey Part 2B ending where he sings “Oh My My My” really high then the 2nd time I messed up the Spacey Part 1C G#5 screams up a bit. This song is so damn hard to full combo. Didn’t expect this one so quick.
edit: I’m on fire!!! Just got an FC on It’s Raining Men after 5 takes. The “bass” notes combined with constant shifting in and out of head voice and the super high held notes makes this one doozy of a song.
January 18, 2015 at 11:48 pm #436549Some incredibly difficult songs in there man, awesome job!

Adding Juular to the list. Got to say that was lackluster song for being in the impossible tier. I would have FC’ed it on my first blind sight read run if it wasn’t for the bass notes I couldn’t hit at the beginning because my voice is not at it’s best right now.
edit: Took about 3 tries to get The Bird And The Worm FCGS. It was much more difficult than Juular. That note that exponentially rises was ridiculous. I actually enjoyed singing it too unlike Juular.
edit: Sightread first time hearing this song and I FC’ed it. Beyond This Life. I know my name is dreamtheaterfan but I’m not the one who chose the name. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” /> I do like Dream Theater a lot but I just don’t listen to them much.
edit: Boom shakalaka! Anybody Listening? FC’ed!!!
edit: Cat’s Pajamas FC’ed first time hearing the song sight read. Should not have been ranked as devil tiered. Would give it a 4 star difficulty rating if I wasn’t lazy to make a graphic. Yes, the song was really high pitched but no variation or difficult switches anywhere. A girl would sing this very easy.
January 19, 2015 at 4:11 am #436564Juular is devils on vocals for the harmonies alone really, if I could I would have dropped it to 5 dot on solo vocals (I try to tier vocals after which part is the most difficult)
January 19, 2015 at 4:28 am #436567Are you not able to tier solo and harmony separately?
If not then I totally understand.
Btw the chart was done well, I just didn’t enjoy the music. Didn’t mean any offense. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
January 19, 2015 at 2:59 pm #436591Oh okay, I did give Video Games the devil tier. I mulled it over for a while, but I think the singer was just bad enough that matching him takes a lot of discipline. I would do something like this for another instrument, but because C3 can pick a lot of songs that the more conventional channels would never have touched, this has led to some next level insane charts. If you think Bagger 288 is hard on vocals, you should try it on…well, anything else.

You can’t, there’s one tier for vocals/harmony. The rule is generally to tier how hard it is to get through the song. Exceptionally hard parts work as a +1 in the tier or something like that: the song is not tiered on the most difficult section. Then again, vocals are incredibly subjective, so something somebody can easily nail can be impossible for somebody else, hence they are very hard to tier (we also know that from official releases, which tiering for many songs befuddled most).

I just thought that compared to other songs in the same category it was a lot easier to FC.
Bagger 288! wasn’t labeled insane because it requires high notes but because the tempo is really fast and the every phrase requires very quick up and down transitions. It took me awhile to nail that one and it’s one of those songs where I probably can’t reliably FC it every time even after already mastering it.
The only two songs currently that on solo alone didn’t deserve devil tiered was Juular and Cat’s Pajamas. Again, this is my personal opinion and related to solo only. Commenting solely on difficulty to FC they were very disappointing.

In all seriousness, though, that song is insane on the other instruments, especially keys and drums. If someone ever FCs the pro keys chart to this, I for one will be forced to freeze Hell over.
On the subject of vocals tiers, including those that you find “disappointingly easy,” there’s a lot of subjectivities that go into tiering songs. While in hindisght I do think that devils is a little much for The Cat’s Pajamas, I’d still say at least five dots is sufficient, because a lot of the longer notes are a bit much for some folks. With Juular, harmonies are 100x more insane than solo vocals, due to the choir vocals throughout; the range is really big (I think three octaves), so I’d say at least for harmonies devils is entirely justified.
It all boils down to “vocal tiers are subjective.” I know there’s a few devil-tiered songs on RB3 alone that I don’t agree with (I have actually FC’d Misery Business on harmonies on expert), while there’s others people think shouldn’t be devils that I think are entirely justified (such as Llama, IDK how people think it’s overtiered).
January 19, 2015 at 6:52 pm #436603Teehee I thought Llama should have been tiered 4 or 5 stars. The tempo is fast but there are only 4 phrases to really sing. The rest of the song is the same exact phrase. The whole song only has one difficult note and that’s the “Raid!” part that is near the end of a phrase.
