I’m looking at getting into Charting this year (next year) as a new years resolution. i’m going to finally pull up my sleeves and figure it all out.

I’ve watched PkSages’s awesome vid on charting and it makes sense… and least intellectually (actually doing it on the otherhand is another matter).

What i’d like to be able to do is bounce my work off someone who knows what they’re doing and get some tips and advice on the peice i’m working on. For instance – i’ve just started but it THINK that i’ve got the BPM down pat – but it would be nice to confirm before I move onto the actual charting. I’d like to repeat this process through each stage of the release. i’ll only bug you if i can’t figure something out.

This way (assuming i’m able to make heads or tails of things) i’ll be able to duplicate the process next time.

If anyone out there in C3 land has some time for a complete newbie i’d be very appreciative.

      Cheers,

You can always shoot me a pm. I’m not as busy as some of the full time blood sweat and tears authors who are putting more hours into one custom than I do for five.

Come to think of it, I’m not the greatest with tempo mapping either. Most (all) of my customs have had simple 4/4 signatures, and several had the exact same bpm throughout. But I suppose the majority of mainstream music has that. TMing definitely confused me when I first started about a year ago, but it always helps to have a song with a nice easy kick/snare setup. Think “Billie Jean” or “Another One Bites the Dust” where those waveforms will really be easy to find.

Good luck with charting. It can be very rewarding once you get past the first few hurdles. One of the things some people have a hard time swallowing: Your first custom is going to suck. You need to be able to accept criticism here. People are going to tell you that something you spent hours on is full of flaws and will need many more hours to make the proper corrections. This has caused countless up-and-coming authors to bail when they were told their work wasn’t very good. Having thin skin is fatal here.

We have plenty of subforums you can use to get feedback, from the Customs WIP area to this one. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
