With it being the holiday season, I will be having a few parties with friends and family outside of my normal Rock Band rotation. There is no doubt Rock Band will be involved in these parties. In previous years I kept my set list in tact, which has almost no pop, rap or party type songs in it. This year I want to put some of that stuff on there temporarily in the hopes that more people get involved in the game.
Being the music snob that I am who looks down on most mainstream pop, hip hop, etc. (I know it’s stupid to be that way, but I am what I am), I have no idea what people who do like that type of music would like to play. I know I am clueless on all the latest pop singers (unless Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera are still relevant). No knowledge of dance music whatsoever (though I am pretty sure people will like that Daft Punk group). And I am also clueless when it comes to all the youtube “songs” that people will sing because they find it humorous.
Anyone want to help this old guy, who thinks music isn’t what it used to be, out with some recommendations?

December 13, 2014 at 10:56 am #434374Don’t worry clintilona you’re not alone.
I think we would have major fun together with your original setlist.
Although I got to say that I actually don’t mind most of the songs Nightmare posted.
The only songs I despise on that list are Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha (me and my friends actually call her keh-dollar sign-hah), Britney Spears, and R. Kelly.
As weird as it might seem, even with liking those songs, I am pretty snobby with today’s music to the point I think most of my friends wish they could tell me to shut up because I can easily rant on them for 2 hours.
December 13, 2014 at 11:42 am #434376Well, since you have access to the private stats, check out those first. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

Yep, I hate myself when I go on my rants about today’s music. My 16 year old nephew was over playing Rock Band a few weeks ago and I just couldn’t help myself when he told me his favorite type of music was dubstep. After googling to find out what the hell dubstep is I spent the rest of he night picking songs trying to educate him on “real music”. That was a waste of time and I just felt like a snob afterwards. It’s just so annoying to me!
Off this topic, I watched a few of your harmony videos and they are pretty cool. Nice job! I could definitely find enjoyment harmonizing with you as most people I’ve sung with don’t actually try and project their voice and/or sing in the correct octave.
December 13, 2014 at 1:51 pm #434387Bit of ABBA is always good for a party, agree with NL there.
Just looking at these party CDs on amazon to come up with some ideas, surprised we haven’t had any Spandau Ballet released from C3 considering we have seem some 80’s packs released, Gold is always a good party song.
Brand new album with classics and current party songs, to hopefully provide some inspiration:

Patience, young grasshopper, and true gold will make it through the barricades.

December 13, 2014 at 5:40 pm #434406The Taylor Swift songs will be a hit with the ladies, probably, and the disco songs released last new years, with Raining Men, I Will Survive, etc. Turn Down For What would probably be a hit, as well as Somebody That I Used to Know, Radioactive, Royals, Sail, and the Avicii tracks.
