You need to convert the ogg files to wav. Then, the resulting bik file will replace the mogg file.

    Bump?

Perfect, thank you for your help. I have mixed and exported all my wav files, all stereo tracks split as mentioned in the tutorial. I loaded each track into RockBiink as well as the dta and clicked on “Generate RAD Batch List”. This is when it shows me the error “Generated tracks data did not match source data. Skipping DTA update” followed by “Generated Pans did not match source data. Skipping DTA update” and a bunch of other errors concluding with “Something went wrong”. Do you know why this error is occurring? Why doesn’t the data match and is there a way to correct this?

Edit: I removed the DTA from RockBiink and attempted to create the bik and it worked, however, once creating the new bin file and placing it into the game, it still freezes at the loading screen when attempting to play it. I assume this is because the dta requires modification with the new bik file.

Notes are the midi, so you don’t need that. Mix down the drums into one stereo track, preferably following whatever volume values there are in the DTA. The rhythm.ogg is the bass. The song.ogg file is the backing. You can mix in the crowd into this if you want, or discard the crowd audio. The program should be able to update the songs.dta file automatically for you afterwards. If you do want to keep the crowd audio, you can modify the script it makes manually, but this is more advanced.

I understand, so if I want to keep the crowd.ogg, I mix it into the song.ogg and this way the dta reads it without having to modify the script manually. Okay thank you. Just a follow up question – does RockBiink recognize loading the individual tracks as ogg files? or do they have to be wav? Also, when the .bik file is generated, do I just go to the song folder where the .mogg is located and delete the .mogg file completely, replacing it with the .bik file?

I suppose not – that’s okay thank you guys.

Thank you all for your responses, I do have some authoring skills as I used to chart songs using Reaper back in the day. I will attempt to use C3 Magma for now and save the mogg as a single stereo track. Thanks again!

If you are able, install Priiloader and use its options to disable updates. This is useful just in case someone gets their hands on your Wii and inadvertently installs something without realising. If you’re on 4.3 there’s literally no need to update anyway.

Regarding getting RB1 songs working with RB3… it’s a mess. I think Stack’s general response is “do not even ask”. I myself have only bothered getting a small number of RB1 songs working because of compatibility issues. It’s possible that vanilla RB1 Wii song rips just aren’t compatible with RB3, hence why you triggered that rare error. It probably wants to update the files to be compatible, but it can’t.

Thanks for the advice – I never realized there’d be compatibility issues with RB1 songs being used in Rock Band 3 as customs. I assume then that there aren’t any small modifications or changes I can make to allow them to work? Just live without RB1 songs? Or do you think updating my firmware and performing the entire exploit ios/cios patching again would fix this?

…I’m confused. I’m a Wii user and, by definition, we don’t get software updates for games themselves… I’ve never seen that error message. I’ve never had a problem like that with Rock Band 3 and using customs.

My Wii perpetually wants to download and install a firmware update (from the main Wii menu), but I reject it.

How are you launching Rock Band 3? I launch it from USBLoaderGX (using the Homebrew Channel), so I never have to interact with the default Wii’s disc launcher (and therefore don’t have to install the firmware update). I’m really surprised Rock Band 3 is giving you an error message, let alone that error message.

What songs is this happening with? Any info you can give will be helpful.

I thought the exact same thing! I have the authentic Rock Band 3 game disk in the Wii Drive and I am launching the game itself through Gecko via the Homebrew Channel. I do this because, when I click on the Rock Band disk from the main Wii menu, it will not allow me to start the game without first installing a firmware update. Gecko has been a way around that.

The songs themselves that are giving this error are songs that came from the Rock Band 1 Wii disk, which I also own. All customs work with no issues except for the ones coming from Rock Band 1. I have them all in the Wii-correct format, converted from rb3con, and performed the same method as all customs but receive this error. Bizarre….

It’s possible that the mogg is encrypted. I don’t think that RockBiink can deal with encrypted moggs.

I was afraid of that. Darn, I suppose there’s no other way to compress the filesize of a mogg? or the bin in general?

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #495124

    Hello,

I have several songs that stutter as they play (Yes, converted from GH) and I realize the problem is the .bin files are too large. I am attempting to follow StackOverflow0x’s RockBiink guide on page 70 of this thread, however I am unable to open my .mogg files within the songs folder (Yes, I am a Wii user) within Audacity. I constantly receive the error that Audacity does not recognize the file selected. I have even installed the ffmpeg library to increase import/export compatibility, which numerous websites I visited for this problem suggested I do, however I am still receiving the same error. Without being able to open the mogg files in Audacity, I cannot follow the guide and compress the mogg file to prevent stuttering. Does anyone know how to resolve this, or perhaps another option I may have to decrease filesize and prevent stuttering?

From my thread for Wii users, which you should totally check out!:

The reason Hotel California and Master of Puppets aren’t working is because the files as Xbox CONs are simply too big. The Wii has a cap of 40 MB per BIN.

Master of Puppets is 46.6 MB.

    Hotel California is 40.6 MB.

Both of these songs are multi-tracked, which is why they are so huge and over the cap, and even if the Wii could load them, they would stutter during gameplay.

    BUT FEAR NOT!

StackOverflow0x has made Wii-friendly versions. Master of Puppets is here and Hotel California is here (and one of my FAVORITE customs). If you have any further questions, hit me up! Wii need to stick together <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />

Quick question – how were you able to search for these songs? I have gone to StackOverflow0x’s profile page and in his song list, I can only see 115 songs, none of which are Master of Puppets and Dani California. If I wanted to search his vast collection of wii-made customs, how would I do so?

Please let me know, Thank you

Atruejedi, you are fantastic! Thank you for your quick, very detailed and very friendly response! You even provided links to wii friendly versions – definitely over the top in your post! I will give these a try later on today and report back. Thanks again and have a fantastic day!
